Not as serious an injury as Durant's... takes longer to return than Durant. Interesting.

Josh Robbins wrote:The 19-year-old rookie will be examined by Robert B. Anderson, the Charlotte-based surgeon who inserted a screw into Gordon's foot.

That evaluation may occur on or around Jan. 5, which will be six weeks and three days after Gordon's surgery.

If Anderson's exam shows that Gordon's foot has healed well, Gordon will be permitted to ramp up his rehabilitation regimen and begin basketball activities.

Josh Robbins wrote:Gordon is expected to return this season.

He might even return before, or just after, the All-Star break in mid-February.

A screw sounds a LOT more serious than we were told. Allstar break in mid Feb now? Nawwww...

I figured it might be February before he's back no need to rush anything especially a foot injury

He was injured on 11/15 and had surgery on 11/21. 6 weeks from that date is 1/2, 8 weeks is 1/16. All-Star weekend begins Friday 2/13 which is exactly 12 weeks after Gordon had surgery. Something is not right. 12 weeks for a 6 to 8 week injury? Either Robbins is full of $#!+ or the Magic are sugar coating the injury.
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

its 6-8 weeks before reevaluation and if its all good then he begins "basketball activities." Does "basketball activities" mean that he is able to play in games or does it just mean that he can begin basic no contact drills.

Different scenarios though, OKC needs to make a deep run every year now with Durant. No need to hurry since we won't be competing for a title..

Stay out as long as necessary. After seeing Grant Hill's career trajectory ruined by rush jobs, I'd hate to see it happen to a 19-year old playing on a sub-.500 team.

Yeah, Gordon was always going to be a multiyear project and he's already exceeded expectations and ahead of schedule. We know what he can do.

Plus Willie is on the bench. No need to rush Gordon back to push him further down.

First paragraph I was with you. Second paragraph I was thinking perhaps we put AG on the Court and wheel him about in his walking boot...

I agree! As many people would say.... his energy is infectious. It's much harder to coast when one of your players is just throwing his all out at all time... winning... losing.... getting destroyed or doing the destroying.

I really hope that we are able to have a full healthy team at some point so we can truly evaluate what we have. I'm excited for his return... hope it is sooner than later!

He should not come back until he is fully ready.

The Magic made a HUGE investment in Gordon with that 4th pick and they should not risk him getting re-injured.

It usually takes anywhere from 6-10 weeks to recover from the surgery. I think they're working with the 10 week schedule out of precaution, but wouldn't be shocked if he's back sooner depending on how his next evaluation goes. They'll have a better idea after he visits the physician for an x-ray.

Agreed. There isn't a good reason in the entire world to rush him back. It's not like we're playing for home court advantage in the playoffs.
Let him have a bunch more time off to ensure that foot heals better.
Spend the time working on his shooting fundamentals in the gym and by teaching him in a classroom with video and senior players on how to be a smarter player. Take your investment and spend more than just money on him.

So long as he gets back in time to play the last 1/2 of the season so he can develop before going into his first offseason.
Keep your politics out of my sports

Right now I am not sure that Gordan-A would get minutes. Coach Vaughn is working out both a new starting five and a new bench rotation around Gordon-b, Fournier and Frye.

Seriously, who would Gordan-A take minutes from?

Just let him rest and work on his mental game.
