Van Gundy brothers praise hire of Scott Skiles

"Great hire for the Magic," wrote Van Gundy, the coach and team president of the Detroit Pistons. "Great coach. Great person. He'll be terrific. . . . Wish they hadn't hired someone so good."

In a conversation I had with Jeff Van Gundy, the former NBA coach who is now an analyst for ABC and ESPN, he raved about the Magic's new coach. He called Skiles "one of the most underrated coaches in the NBA." He called him a "terrific teacher." He said "his teams play, the way he played — tough and smart and with a sense of tenacity that really embodies who he is."

There you have it.

If he's good enough for the Van Gundy boys, he should be good enough for you, too.

Depends on how you read it. Could be a "f the magic, they don't deserve him" or "they are going to be competition".

I believe so. He hated being fired by a non-basketball PR guy that pretends to know what's best for players and the team.

Skiles is a good coach for a couple of years, teach fundamentals, make the players grown in a play hard culture, and all that, after a while he burns his players and he doesnt have what it takes to bring up their teams to the next elvel.
He has also never had the talent though, maybe this time...

This is literally nothing. People were praising Vaughn as a really talented coach, good point guard in his days, great teammate, he will show a lot. BLA BLA BLA
