Toronto would have to renounce a lot of their free agents as they combine for over 40 mill in cap holds and if you add that to their active deals which total 49 mill they have no room. Ross only has a 3.5 mill cap number so I am not sure that works unless they renounce their rights to Amir Johnson, Landry Fields, Lou Williams, and Chuck Hayes and probably Hansborough too. In which case they would have about the money to just offer him a deal and wait and see if we match. If not I think they just use that space for another free agent rather than also having to lose Ross. And Frye isn't a good fit next to Vuc so if taht trade were to go down I wouldn't hen draft another wing player in Winslow and instead take KP or Myles Turner if KP is gone.

yeah, it would be a ridiculous scenario. I guess the scenario is that Toronto renounces all those guys specifically to target Harris with a max offer and want to get the deal done early to avoid possible interest from the NYK heating up, while Orlando is sincere enough about matching that Harris is willing to negotiate a SnT because without that assurance the Raptors won't free the cap room in the first place?

When you look around, it is hard to find a team that might realistically be interesting in taking Channing Frye back in a trade. As much as a lot of us dislike his game, he is still capable of being the guy that spreads the floor. He didn't have a great year but he did hit his clip of 3's. Oddly enough, he actually had his 2nd best year from 3 (in terms of %). I looked for a team that has no big man (4 or 5) to spread the floor, a team that was salary cap strapped, and was in win now mode.

Orlando Magic Trade: Channing Frye (8.2 Million, 3 yrs remaining) + Moe Harkless (2.9 Million, expiring w/QO)
Washington Trades: Nene (13 Million, expiring) + 2016 First Round Pick, Lotto Protected (2017 Top 5 Protected, 2018 Top 3 Protected, 2019 Unprotected)
