Aaron Gordon sighting?

Post#1 » by orlandomike » Fri Jun 26, 2015 12:22 pm

the beef with Gordon is he is a tweener. Tall enough for PF but at 220, not heavy enough IMO.

Does anyone know if he has put on any weight in the offseason?
My 2 cents is worth 5 cents.

He's a ripped dude... It's probably going to take him a few years to actually put on some noticeable weight. I remember him saying he has to eat a ton just to maintain his weight. I just want him to focus on getting stronger. The extra 15 or so pounds will naturally come in time. Anyway, if Amir Johnson, who came into the league at 6'9 and 210 pounds, could play PF, then I don't see why AG couldn't.

I'm not that worried About Gordon's build. He clearly has some athletic genes just needs to put on maybe 10 more lbs of mass

People always say you need elite wingspan to be an undersized power forward, but Aaron's only an inch less than Draymond Green. Maybe that makes a big difference, and Green's wide frame and low center of gravity definitely help, but there's still potential for Aaron at the 4 in today's league. It kind of "wastes" his lateral quickness against small forwards, but it helps big time when switching onto point guards, which is pretty much the offensive gameplan of every team in the league during crunch time.

They have the same standing reach though. I love the green conparison for gordon.

He's a tweener but in a good way. He's not stuck between two positions he can play both therse a difference. With a guy like Tobias it's a problem because he's a tweener who can't guard 3s and 4s effectively. Once AG puts on some weight he should be able to play both positions no problem

that's the thing for me i would agree with this wholeheartedly if i didn't see that milwaukee game. later on in the year when we played milwaukee i've never seen that kind of defensive effort from Tobias before he was all over the place, he was very impressive defensively. Which made me think that maybe the only reason he showed that kind of effort was because maybe he was playing his former team that buried him on the bench? That game had me pissed because it showed me a different side of tobias, the two-way player that i always wondered he could be. Why can't he show that kind of effort defensively all year?

Also AG is mostly a SF sorry guys.

for someone who is "mostly sf" he did a great job defending PF last season especially down the stretch though his offense fell off. and in the end he played 2/3 of his minutes at the PF position.

I hope he can hit the 230lb mark but if he doesn't just think of all the other free agents people are looking at.... Ed davis... Brandon Wright and they are all decent defenders.

there might be nights like Memphis where he has to play against a Z-bo or something... which is a lot of man to cover... but he has the strength and quickness to defend even though some girth would be a definite plus. We'll see what he comes in looking like next week.

The warriors success with smallball and draymond green has transformed my perception of the future of the power forward. Gordon ABSOLUTELY can become our starting power forward however i think asking him to both add muscle and add a jumpshot would probably be asking a bit much at this stage. I think he should focus on the skill game especially jumpshooting at first and then the added weight will come in time.

As I have said all along, AG is a better fit at PF. But some still argues he is a playmaking FORWARD

His official weight during the Magic's training camp was 225. I'm fairly confident he's in the low-230s.
