Isn't Ibaka pretty much exactly the sort of player this board has been clamoring for over the past two years? A shot blocking, defensive minded big that could play next to Vuc?

This board has clamored for some really dumb stuff. Ibaka probably is older than he says he is. His will to play defense has faded quite a bit. Also, needing Ibaka presupposes that Vuc HAS to be here. If someone gives us a nice deal, I'd much rather move Vuc.

Vic + Vuc + 11 for Lopez and Buckets is an easy yes from us.


But I dont really see why Vic + Vuc would be an attractive package for a team trying to rebuild. Which is what the point of Chicago trading away Jimmy would be.

I don't think the numbers work with Lopez + Butler, because that's $13M more in salary, and we can't absorb that until July 1st when we get more cap space.

Which I'm kind of glad about, because adding Lopez would restrict our ability to add Horford plus another big FA. But, if it did happen, I wouldn't be mad because Lopez is good enough to be a defensive anchor.

As for Chicago's rebuild, I wouldn't be surprised if a Vuc/Vic lead team were able to scrape into the playoffs in the next year or two. They're not bad, they're just not good enough to lead a team deep into the playoffs right now. And Chicago might see the potential for Dipo to hit Butler-esque numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if those guys became 19fga per game options on a team like that, and they'd certainly crack the 20ppg mark at that point. Hoiberg might get Vuc to focus on developing his 3pt range, and with that kind of volume in attempts, I think Dipo would start getting a few more FTAs.

They'd essentially look like an old David Lee/Monta Ellis version of the Warriors.
