The fact that we finally have that guy we can just give the ball to during crunch time and expect a positive outcome.

The fact that we finally have someone that gets calls and get to the line when driving to the hoop.

It's too early to proclaim he will able to do all that in playoff games. He *should* have body where he will be hard player to contain.

I look at Randle ,and guy shoots 47% FG in regular season and 34% in playoffs because refs simply refuse to bail out his dumb attemps, where in regular season they give him all the bailout calls.
For example vs Heat, Heat created "web" to catch him. Adebayo was on him, and whenever he recived ball in post, they were trapping him and forced him to pass ball or attemp horrible looking hook & mid range shots. As outcome, he averaged 4 turnovers a game on 4 assists.

For Paolo's development, having ability to spot up is pivotal to open up driving lines as defenders will try to close out on him more. His rookie year had him 19th percentile in spotups.
He shot 33% from catch and shoot, but volumen was low.

On other side, he tried way too many isolations ( top 20 in nba) for pretty poor outcomes. It's just poor set play in general ( Paolo shot 38% FG in them). Even prolific stars like Tatum should cut that crap off because it isn't very beneficial for them nor for team.

Paolo's time with Magic can be much easier if Magic adjust their roster to his strenghts. So having several shooters and eventually forcing coach or him into more pick&roll with him as rolling man would be needed.

One of biggest Fultz-Banchero pair problems is their pathetic pick&roll performances.

Calls will be tighter in POs of course but the fact that as a rookie he does get calls when even some of our recent vets needs blood to get one, well its a promising sign.

He just need to get stronger so when even he does get fouled, call or not, he finishes.

Paolo in a commercial… I don’t think he is in this movie but I don’t know what this movie is.

https://youtu.be/dkx3kewPJWM

I also heard he would be doing media corresponds throughout the finals. I wish him good luck.

So glad that Isaiah set Paolo straight about what he should be noticing in that environment. I sometimes feel that Paolo wants to be on a bigger stage but I think Isaiah grounded him into realizing that he needs to be a student of these games and ask lots of question. I know that he has the work ethic and bbiq to be a great player, but it warms might heart that all 4 guys really pressed upon him the importance of learning. He is lucky to get that in his very young career. Unfortunately we don’t have any championship vets that can remind him of that frequently.

Thankful for Isaiah to press upon him that Orlando need a culture and identity, I really hope the gang can all hear that and create such an environment that leads to winning.

Great post and fully agree. Not so much on concerns about Paolo (i think hes a pretty dedicated kid who is going to be in media demand because hes roty) but on what it takes to go from good to great. Fascinating that Isaiah used his time visiting the Finals so constructively.

TA: What’s the next step in the growth of Paolo Banchero's career with the Magic?

PB: Just becoming a better all-around player. Growing every part of my game and adding, becoming an even better leader. Trying to help us get back to winning ways, get to the playoffs, and eventually get here (The NBA Finals).

I assume Paolo is playing for the Italian team. He's been in Italy for the last couple of days, and they'll be playing games in July.

The easy mode would be to go to Italy. They were hoping he show up for the 2024 Olympics for them. Paolo is going to have a hard time making that Olympic roster spot let alone thinking that it is an automatic gold medal for USA (which it’s not).
