Fultz was a mixed bag tonight.... That hitch, is killing him.... If he's not wide open it's not looking good

He continues to pass up wide open 3s to drive into contested midranges jumper. Idiotic x2. If he wasn't an above average passer he'd be unplayable.

Kinda OT.. we are 6th right now. But with the i.pending win of the Pacers we might slide to 7th... 8th if MIA squeaks out against the Clips.

Speaking of... Herro is benched???

I'm hoping this is that start of the little "run" a few of the guys and I saw coming...the past 3 games. Should've beaten Dallas as well though.

Offense would be bad, Wendell gets some respect as shooter. Goga would just stand next to Isaac, 5 feet from rim.

Goes under a radar, but Wendell is our best 3 point shooter, percentage vise

Was watching this game with my son, who at 11 has become a HUGE Magic fan (this is really year-1 of what I am sure will be a ifteime obsession.

Anyhow: with F-Wagner at 38 points and the ball with 11 seconds left, he was screaming "shoot the ball and get 40". Well: I calmly explained that isn't sportsman like. And my son really didn't care. It was a chance for 40, and that's all that mattered to this 11 year old.

Basic reflections sum to two: this is the second straight game were there was clear poor performance by the Refs. I really hope they get a "telling off". That said, it did not effect the game (from the Magic perspective). So no harm, no foul.

The Magic having two Aces on offense is going to be potent in the playoffs and ext year. Either F-Wagner or Banchero can have an off night and the team can still score wildly and win games. Orlando is very, very close to being a really interesting team.

I ♥ F-Wagner as much as I ♥ Banchero.

Box score thoughts;

the Magic won the FG% battle (and crushed in the eFG% battle) and won the game.

Less three ball chances, less FT chances, not a big difference in rebounding r FG attempts overall. Slight win for TO differential, which reflected in the small advantage in FG opportunities. In the end, the Magic won at a basic level: the team was more efficient on offense, and notably, the three-ball in the 4th that made the difference in this game.

If the Magic has a 10-24 (41.7%) three ball game in and out, this would be an elite team. I really hope management watched closely at this to see what Orlando could be against mediocre teams by whooping a can on a bad team.

I had to laugh during first half.
First before game , PIstons announcers hype team like they are 72 wins Bulls.
Than starting 5 is announced and they start Knox, who shouldn't be in nba for 4 years now.

Than game starts and Knox, as usual, airballs 12 foot jumper.
Than Pistons go to bench and you have :
Muscala- who is now playing on his 7th team in 6 years.
Galo & Bojan- who are wasting their last solid years on Pistons
Ausar Thompson- who shoots epic 14% for as wing (for 3). And has skillset of C but is 6'6 as lottery pick. Killian Hayes DNP- CD as 7th pick.

You watch them play and they struggle with execution of most basic basketball sets. They fumble passes from person to person within 4 feet range.

I don't know how they even menaged to win those 6 games. Hell, how that team beat OKC?

Their gm is awful. They are full of players i wanted to avoid in the draft. We could run that team better.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

The first half was a clown show, Magic included. Stupid mistakes etc. The NBA should burn the tape of the 1st half…

You actually make a great point about Ausar I didn’t think about it but he is essentially a center energy guy but in a 6”6 or 6”7 body. You can find those guys in the late 1st or 2nd round. He did have a strong effect on this game but not worth a top 5 pick. He is 21 already, played professionally before, yes I know G league but still, if you do not have somewhat of a shooting skill set at this point the gap to overcome is so large I can’t see him developing that shot. Limits him to a good energy role player but not a top 5 level pick. Crazy that scouts pigeon hole a guy into a guard because of his size when he has no guard skills, can’t shoot at all, can’t dribble, turns the ball over, can’t pass. Heck of a defender though and as you said he really is an undersized big…

The level of IQ on that team is so abysmal, this is why they lost 28 in a row….you have guys like Ivey (not a rookie) making bad reads and passing it to a fan on the sidelines, it becomes clear why they lost that many.

Wiseman played 5 mins and those 5 minutes were hilarity. He is so incredibly bad, yet a #2 pick, crazy. Dude was picked #2 wow.

This team would be better with Bitadze in the starting five and M.Wagner as back up. Bitadze is a really good defender and rim protector and on offense he knows his role. WCJr is a good player but he's just a solid defender and offensively with guys like Banchero and Franz Wagner, you really don't need him. Just my two cents. I would say at least that WCJr is less a problem than Fultz. Markelle can't shoot and the more he handles the ball, the more the defense is happy since neither Banchero or F.Wagner have the ball in their hands. I feel like, the Magic HC has some sort of fidelity and loyalty toward Wendell Carter Jr and Markelle Fultz but ultimately, the Magic played their best games when they were injured. It sucks for them but that's the reality. It was the same for David Lee with the Warriors. I would say that at least Banchero and F.Wagner are playing like they're the go to guys. They don't defer. So that's a positive for the Magic this season. For a decade, they missed that type of player specially Banchero. What a great pick. He's exactly what the Magic needed for years.

Goga iis theoretically "better" if we have a floor spacing PG, but we don't. Fultz doesn't even attempt shots, Black may get there but he's still a spot up guy and has no gravity yet which is why he's open a lot. Cole's shot has fallen off of a cliff and is too small.

Wendell isn't the ideal future C, but you absolutely can't start Goga with basically any of our current PGs until we make a trade. Can't have no spacing/threat from PG/C and then have Franz struggling a bit this year, with Suggs and Paolo being streaky too.
