One thing I liked is they said “you may not be thrilled with the shooting and whatnot but the team has an identity.” After years without one, it’s kind of refreshing.

I'd say that's a leap from not wanting "not thrilled with the shooting" as our identity.

There's certainly a balance without denying our defensive and half-court impact. That's who we are going to be with or without competitive levels of outside shooting.

Disagree. Maybe this feels directed at you, it just isn't.

We have already balanced the defense around Paolo. He is our "average at best" defender. To say we need more scorers at the cost of defense or "can't have it all" takes us further from the identity.

If you envision Paolo becoming all team defense or DPOTY then yes, a mostly offensive player in a guard would make more sense. Otherwise you just leave 2 gapping holes in defense.

I look at the Clippers as a good example. Suddenly, inexplicably, they have some of the best defenders of our time, but after adding Harden, are "soft", "lack identity".

Yup.. that's why he did it as some said. To make sure he is #1 because in 2026 the Boozer twins are gonna be there to challenge that spot.
