As they should. They will look pretty dumb if they lose to Orlando now.

We'll.see if the overachiever Suggs has anything to say about it.

1st game Orlando shot abysmally from 3pt - 2-23 and we lost, Paolo had 42 pts game, Garland and Mitchell combined for 61 pts.
2nd game, Cavs shot abysmally altogether 35.3% and we beat them. J.Allen fouled out in 15 minutes.
3rd game Cavs shot lights out - 20-36 form 3pt, we turned over the ball and they beat us convincingly, the worst home defeat this season.
4th game we shot lights out and beat them behind 14-25 3pt shooting, less tos, more orb. The game was won by the bench, all the starters had negative +/-

Paolos scored once 42 pts, the second best scoring result from any of our players was a 22 pts Moe Wagner game.
Franz never reached 20pts against them - 14-19-17-14 pts and 3-19 3pt shooting.
Suggs also didnt shine offensively - 25 pts combined in 4 games, although he got injured in one of them.

Garland playe in 3 of the games, Cleveland lost 2 but he always had positive +/-.

JI also played in the wins and sat in the losses.

Those games are very hard to value.

Game 1, December 6, 2023.
Magic: No Isaac, no Carter
Cavs : No Levert
Cavs won 121-111

Game 2, December 13, 2023.
Magic: No Carter
Cavs: No Mobley nor Levert
Magic won 104-94

Game 3, January 22,2024
Magic: No Isaac, no Gary Harris
Cavs : No Mobley, Levert, Garland
Cavs won 126-99

Game 4, February 22, 2024
Magic- fully healthy
Cavs - No Mitchell
Magic won 116-109

There was not a single game played between those two teams where they even had all starters aveliable.

Imo most important things in this matchup will be:
- control of Donovan MItchell
- Mobley vs Isaac/Paolo
- how much can Allen impact our driving lines, vs how much him and Mobley will clog paint
- shooting in general
- defensive specialists impact ( Suggs vs Okoro on perimeter, Mobley vs Isaac below rim)

But to me,as i've said in point one, Mitchell is x factor, if guy is having good series, there is just so little you can do about it. You double him and they will dump ball to Garland to feed bigs, get open shooters etc, if he is struggling than you can actually beat them.

To be fair, the Cavs best stretch of the season came mostly when Garland and Mobley were both out injured.

I went through their game log, and it's crazy, it seems like they were never actually healthy and during almost all their big wins, they at least 2 starters didn't play.

But vast majority of their Ws come from streach of 17 wins in 18 games, where they played like 15 games against teams below .500

Roster vise, they are better than last year. Addition of Struss moved Levert to more natural, 6th man role. Okoro & Merrill got better. This year in playoffs they won't be playing corpses of Danny Green and Rubio so i guess that's a bonus for them.

Only 16 nba players played 82 games this year.

Buddy Hield played 84

Since 2009, we have seen only one NBA Finals series in which both No. 1 seeds won their conferences. That came all the way back in 2016. The No. 1 overall seed has not won a championship since the Golden State Warriors did so in 2017.

If the Cavs didn't tank, we would've got the Bucks probably without Giannis.

We started rebuilding in 2021.

The previous rebuild failed and was blown up. The post-Dwight rebuild started in 2013 and ran through 2017. The re-tool started in 2017 and ran through 2021.

This is the 3rd season of the rebuild.

I guess we can agree to disagree then. The Eurobros era culminated in a .500 season and two trips to the playoffs. That is a failure to launch in my book.

To me a true rebuild isn't over until you are set to be a perennial playoff team for a long time, like I believe we are now.
That's fine until you use it to justify an expectation that we'll beat the Cavs because we've been rebuilding longer. That logic doesn't make any sense.

What? I didn't say that. I FEEL like we should because I feel slighted as a fan because the Devos family wanted the team to suck for a while and recoup money after the Dwight years. I never said anything like what you're saying, some imagination you have there.

I liked our Knicks matchup way better but i did not want to see the Cavs in the first round. Don't like the idea of seeing Mobley and Donovan Mitchell in a 7 game series.

Franz should dominate Strus though.

Made a thread specifically for Magic/Cavs talk. Please use that thread and let this one be about the other games that will be on! Thanks!

Just realized that the Pistons is horrible for five straight years, with a clear prediction to be terrible next year.

Specifically the team is AVERAGING 18.8 wins per season for the last five years; with a "high" of 23 wins.

Anyone know when the draft order tie breakers are going to be done?

Last year regular season ended on Sunday 4/9 and tie breakers were done on Monday 4/17 so looks like they will probably be done next week.

Well: I guess the play-in games must be played first. For example, if the Lakers fail to make the playoffs, the Orlando will not have a tie-breaker with LAL (they would be in the lottery instead).

This Pels-Lakers game reminds me of what actual nba offense/spacing looks like.

Not that there's gonna be much of that in Cavs-Magic

Seems like a regular season game. I don't feel the intensity.
