Meanwhile, Dejounte dropped 30 pts on 13-20 shooting tonight.
He's averaging 25.5ppg on 46/39/74 splits for the month.

I'm just making the case that he's good enough to play over Fultz, with the benefit that it's investing in development time for him. The amount of posters that don't want to give Anthony Black a chance is astonishing. It's either they love Fultz or they love their own home-cooked fantasy alternative, and so they judge AB prematurely.byeganyo wrote:eyriq wrote:If at any point I was ever trolling about AB I've since convinced myself that he's the truth. Honestly, I was high on him in the draft process and he's only confirmed his scout.p0peye wrote:

right now you are pimping him in a game in which he has scored 6 pts...
This month he is delivering 3 pts in 12 minutes on 39/46/17 shooting... talk about weird splits... he is 2-9 from the ft line in March. Maybe it's not drawing contact as much as opponents are not afraid to foul him...

Thank goodness Philly blew it. Could have been a really bad night for us.

On the bright side, if there is one, the Pacers, Cavs and Sixers all lost. So the Magic only lost ground to the Knicks who they aren't going to catch anyway.

S/o to Cole Anthony. Him & Isaac were the only 2 players who showed up tonight
Cole almost single handledly won us this game. Respect.

No need to point out people sucking Mosely all season on sub .500 teams while the offense looks like ass most nights against real competition.
Then he has questionable lineups and everyone just wants to point to guys on rookie contracts playing poorly as the justification. Yeah no ****. This team isn’t comprised of vets. It’s a bunch of 2-3 year guys that everyone is hoping to be consistent.
You should be looking more at players that know better and Weltman actually filling out a roster. Fultz shouldn’t be on the floor, there is literally no point. Carter doesn’t fit. This was obvious more than halfway through Paolo’s rookie season.
So does the roster suck or does Mosley suck?
1 position of crucial importance matters. They haven’t figured out how to fix that. Drag along Fultz, sign no alternatives except for a 40 year old SF. I dunno seems like a big deal.
Carter you want to take a bunch of jumpers in the first half and have a bunch of wasted possessions to limit our core from heating up? Sure go for it. No problem.
It’s not black and white. It’s that Mosely is limited by options and doesn’t actually reign anyone in when it doesn’t suit the timing. What was the game plan? Shrink the floor on offense against Curry and hope the 2/5 of the other starters outshoot them?

we got so damn lucky tonight. Cavs lost, Philly lost, and Pacers are down 21 in the 4th.

My criticism with Mose tonight was that I want to see him just yank guys early sometimes. He does it in the 4th all the time, but he lets guys play through bad play. And to his credit, it has worked quite often. We'll see guys get just straight up destroyed on here only to hit a couple of threes or make some big plays and shut them up.
My general philosophy of things though is sometimes everything doesn't work. You can search and search and nothing is the right answer. But I also think it's easy for us to say when you're not coaching guys 24/7 and spend an entire year with them, you can't give up on guys every time they suck. You have to pick spots when to be a hardass and when to give them some rope.
He's learning as well.

By the way, Franz has only hit 20 points twice this entire month.
Versus the Wizards and Pistons.
Paoo was bad, but Franz isn't picking up the slack as much as he was earlier in the year.

My only issue with Mosley right now is it's just too obvious Fultz is done. He can't be a starter, kills any spacing/dynamic this team already lacks. At this point it's because he's a cool guy loyalty thing. He really hasn't had a good game I can remember all year. He's unplayable, doesn't have a role on the team, and always in the way on offense trying to contribute.

Then I’ll ask the question.
Is Franz having a super terrible long-term slump or is he limited at getting good looks in this offense? We know what he’s capable of doing.
I’m not even blaming the X’s and O’s so much on Mosely tonight as much as it was about starting Fultz over Cole and finding better ways of getting players into scoring position on the court.

I'd love to tell you you're wrong, but you're not wrong (minor bright side, sophomore Franz was better than either version, so there's hope).
I'd also love for Franz to just cancel on his national team and just work on his game all summer, but it's an Olympic year so I can't in good conscience ask him to actually do that.

Some good news though is that we tend to never give up. We always fight back and we bounce back very nicely. I'm expecting a great game against the Clippers for which I will be present and the games I'm there, we win mostly. We did lose against the Kings and there was another game that we lost but still we've won every other game I've been to.

I wouldn't go that far, but I'd say he's gone completely sideways this year when most of us were expecting another leap. That's very disappointing.
It all comes down to his three-ball. I never thought we'd see a Franz season shooting under 30%. Heck, I thought over 35% on modest volume was an almost guarantee.
I'm a massive Franz fan, but there's no way around it. He needs a long summer of development. Unfortunately, it will be another Olympic-focused summer where his role on the team is more of a slasher and getting shots toward the basket.

This Franz stuff is goofy.
2PT% is up (and is ELITE for a wing).
FT attempts are up.
Rebounding is up
Assists are up.
Turnovers are down.
People are just getting too lost in the sauce on his 3PT percentage.
Yes, it's a very important thing.
Yes, it has has nose dived this season.
But some of y'all are acting like he's actively bad now and he's literally better at every single thing that isn't 3PT shooting.
The Magic are 39-25 when he plays and 3-5 when he doesn't and he has a +3.4 NET rating.

Of course he's still a really good player. The people debating that are silly.
You simply can't shoot 16% from three on the month though. Come on.
We can expect more than 16/4/2 on 16% three point shooting during a month where we played against a lot of scrub teams from our 2nd option.

no one is judging him prematurely, he is going to be a good NBA player, but right now he is not there. I see an often scared teenager with potential. In terms of development time, i think he got enough to show what he has and he does not.
