Yeah, that's the thing that if we want Goga to play, we have to bench WCJ or Moe entirely which probably isn't smart. Can only be Goga/WCJ or Goga/Isaac.. Goga/Moe would be a mess. One of them has to always be sitting.

Goga is an insurance policy for me. Steps in if a center gets hurt.

If that's the case I wonder if Goga will get minutes against a twin tower lineup against the Cavs?

In the playoffs rotations are typically tighter, 8,9 guys. I am expecting starters plus Cole, JI, and Moe to get most mins. Joe might be that 9th guy.

I could vote for anyone and feel comfortable. JI set the tone on defense which is how we’ve been winning games. Cole had a great 4th quarter. I had to go with Franz because it felt like he played with a fire.

Paolo had the best numbers, Franz the most impact and Isaac changed the whole atmosphere.
Voted JI becouse whole mood changed with his heroics.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

And-1

Take Suggs and G-Harris as examples. They had impacts that were not in the boxscore. Their play mattered.

p.s. I voted Banchero. He just "wanted it". Good enough for a vote for me.

Thought about it, and Isaac made some dope shots for us from the 3-ball area. Something we have desperately needed from his position this season.

Thank you to Paolo, Franz and the team for this fantastic game and this new momentum. I am eating crow as someone who overreacted way too much to everything in the last 1-2 previous weeks of awful basketball. I know it was a Giannis-less MIL, but it was Dame-led and they came at us really hard, still falling short. It’s huge being confirmed 1st round and not against one of those big 3 teams if they have their biggest stars (BOS, MIL, PHI). CLE ran us out in that 3rd game of the regular season series iirc, so we still might be in major trouble but I’m still all in with ORL in 6-7!

V - Paolo
C - Isaac
Felt like both willed us into a small lead in 2nd half.
M - Franz
Franz took over the game from there.

As always, the team effort was sky-high and lots of players deserve accolades as well, like in most Vest threads. We were never a team with a cut and dry top 3 impact like that, it was a top to bottom mix of vets and 22-ish year olds led by our superstar in making, Paolo. If Franz and Suggs hit a few 3’s then it’s the same superstar conversation again. Let’s goo!

With how agressive and important Suggs defense is, you kinda expect him to get in foul trouble a lot. So i think itl be Fultz or maybe Black as the 9th guy tp defend against Suggs assignment.

You know, this concluding regular season Vest series, wraps up our '23-'24 Season "RealGM VSTAT PER's". Our very own internal advanced statistic based on a blend of classic scouting and statistical analysis.

In VSTAT PER, the Magic had a Big 6 in this order:

8.4 - Paolo Banchero
6.2 - Franz Wagner
4.5 - Jalen Suggs
2.0 - Cole Anthony
1.9 - Jonathan Isaac
1.6 - Mo Wagner

You can kind of already see, anything above a 1.0 VSTAT PER is a good threshold of high impact. Basically, I want those 6 players above back with us for the long-term, even if some of them are still destined for 18-25 MPG roles. Because you can't knock how important a bench is, it literally carried us this year.

But our little internal stat does skew towards games played and minutes played a little bit. It's in this light, however, that Jonathan Isaac reaching as high as practically #4 on the team is all the more amazing. And all the more reason to retain him for future seasons, keep him steady at 18-24 MPG, 60%+ of Reg Season Played, and ramping up in Playoffs like he did this season.

The skew to games played did hurt two great big men, Wendell Carter and Goga Bitadze, however. And I would say Joe Ingles and Anthony Black a bit too. Some of that is DNP-CD along with injuries. And Wendell is on a competitive salary cap contract, too. Would next season be the rise of new Top 6 VSTAT PER's on the team, like Jett Howard and Wendell Carter? A big man with a well-rounded, high IQ game and a good 3 pointer like Wendell cannot be found out there with any ease.
