D'Angelo Russell Anyone?

Post#1 » by mattdelray1220 » Mon May 13, 2024 1:57 pm

Anyone interested in him? I mean he really fits what we are looking for. Defense isnt incredible but its fine. He creates offense, gets others involved and has been outstanding from 3 for years now. Does he have attitude problems? I dont recall. He has compliments Suggs very well in the back court. We do not have to give up assets for him. Just give him a nice deal. 28 yrs old in his prime. What am I missing with him? Culture fit?

Personally, I consider him as viable an option as Monk or Klay.

Russell is a poor defender and has been a massive flake in the playoffs.

But offensively he's like a rich man's version of Tyus Jones.

He will make shots, dish out assists and won't turn the basketball over. All three things this Magic team sorely lacks.

If they think they can hide him defensively, he'd certainly be a welcome addition offensively.

Look at his playoff stats all time. He has never really shown up.

I care more about players post season performance than regular season when looking at targets.

It’s a firm no for DLo.

Tyus has at least 1 good playoff showing out of 4.

Compare Monk’s playoff performances vs DLo. It’s not even close.

Getting a good offensive player like Russell would be a net positive for the team if we lose defense in the process because our team needs offense, outside shooting and scoring so badly. I believe I saw a stat that said we had by far the worst offense of all teams that made the playoffs, 22nd overall in offensive rating in the league this year.

this is what i see. He is mentally weak, just look at him eating food during a timeout with his team down. He could be productive, but he wouldnt be near the top of the list

Tyus in 27 career playoff games has shot .365 from the floor and .314 from 3PT.

Russell's been better, but not by much.

im okay with it. Far from my preferred option. I would put him towards the end of the list of targets, but he's alright.

oh look another solid available option for us!

I'm going to go mad lad if the FO doesn't bring someone in to fix our G issue.

Monk, Russel, Murray, Tyus, Klay, PG, someone, anyone (well not anyone)
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

No.

He tends to overdo things. He still thinks he is an allstar.

Anthony Black is being given a chance next season. The only G we need to acquire is a bench scorer.

Lots of questions but he sure looks good on paper...certainly on the list, but a few steps down for me...he's kind of proven to be unproven.

I certainly prefer Monk in FA...Murray, Simons via Trade. But I'd get behind it if it happened.

If this happens, and I'm not at all saying it isn't a realistic outcome because I think it could happen, I'll throw down significant dollars that the Magic have a worse record and lower seed than this year.

I would welcome either Russell or Monk with open arms. Both brings things we desperately need.

Agree. Black will be the back up PG next year imo. Cole as the back up 2. Jett or Caleb as the back up 3. We are clearly bringing in a starting guard. Hopefully its Monk/Russell.
