THE PLEASE PLAY REDDICK THREAD

Post#1 » by marcin061786 » Sat Jan 5, 2008 7:09 pm

Hey guys, I have been a long time reader and even longer magic fan but formally signed up to start posting. Now to the topic, i saw bogans seemed to hurt himself for a little bit towards the end of the BS rockets game (tough call to make could have gone either way i guess, the vids were inconclusive but the whole no call on the floor thing was weird to say the least). I am not sure if Bogans was offically hurt but if he was does this mean JJ finally gets the chance to play??? Sure Bogans and Dooling have better defense but obviously its not helping enough because i keep seeing them getting torched anyways (example Wade and Gordon). How much worse can reddick be??? Youve got the greatest shooter in college history with proven NBA range and he is rotting on the bench. Give the man some damn minutes and run some plays for him. Hes the best shooter on this teams thats supposidly is trying to put shooters around howard. We need to get back into the inside out game and let dwight dominate. Shooters like reddick, lewis, hedo will keep the D honest.

PLAY JJ STAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wonder how hurt bogans is, didn't look to serious at all but who knows. jj still needs to improve his D.

as a side note, you might want to learn to spell his name right.

Yeah i hope not though the kid has never actually gotten a chance to play, but thinking about it I guess if Hill and Stan both dont want to play the guy there must be more to the story, but still the kid is lights out

is there something wrong with our offense or something? Why would we play JJ? So our offense can produce the same but give up more points? Our defense is already in question. No reason to play JJ.

He'll likely be traded, and as much as I've come to like the guy as a player, it's best for him and this team. I'm hoping maybe we trade him along with Dooling to Golden State for Pietrus.

i myself would love to see him get time, and turn into a great player...but i just dont see it happening...he's been very outward with his "im not playing, i dont know why" comments, with both Hill and SVG...he seems like a dick in every article he's been quoted in about the situation...he hasnt really done anything MAJOR to warrant 15+ minutes and he isnt really LIGHTS OUT, otherwise, he'd be gaming on a more frequent basis....

not to mention that our defense SUCKS...so basically with Redick, sure he drills a 3 on one end, but he gives up 2 on the other, there isnt a single person in the league that would say trading 3's for 2's is good basketball...

IDK...i'd be ecstatic if he became a nightly contributor...but i have about less than zero hope as of today...

When you have a shooter like redick on the squad you dont let him rot on your bench. Bogans might be a better defender but throws up wayyyyy too many 3's and misses most of them. He should not be a starting SG in the NBA

OR that ball hog dooling. Yeah he brings energy and defense but once he touches the ball you know its going up. I am not saying start JJ but on a team this weak in the back court Im sure you can find at least 20 minutes a night for redick.

WRONG!!!

Bogans is currently ranked 4th i believe in 3-pointers made this season at 76, Shard is 3rd with 89 and Jason Richardson is 1st with 90...

No theif... Bogans may be fourth..But I am pretty sure he is first in attempts by a good amount.. iirc anyway.
Plus, how often do we see Bogans shoot 2-10 and 5 of them be WIDE open.

We have gone over this before. WIth Bogans playing defense and giving up 25 - 30 and only scoring maybe 10 is there REALLY a difference whether JJ plays or not?

JJ will make 3-5 WIDE open threes. But most teams won't give that to him. They have to keep a man on him at all times which gives Dwight more room in the middle to work and keeps that extra hand away from swiping it and causing a Turnover.

I understand Hill and SVG haven't played him much, but in all honesty, look at the games he has played, if he gets consistent minutes he scores over 10 the majority of the time. I mean I really think JJ could drop 10-15 points a game if given half the amount of shots Bogans takes and the amount of minutes Evans gets....

JJ needs his chance, and he may be suspect to trade, but right now, there probably is not a team in the NBA that would trade for him due to the fact TWO coaches won't play him and have not seen much from him. So, as of now he has ZERO trade value until he does SOMETHING in the NBA.

let the game dictate whether jj plays..if bogans and dooling are having off nights, play jj because bogans and dooling arent playing defense right now, so they are kinda useless at times..we need are 2 guards to score or play d..and neither of the 3 will do both consistantly

Bogans doesn't give up 25-30 per game, thinking that way is just (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Bogans is almost always defending the opponent's best players, and most times there's nothing you can do against them, the officiating just doesn't allow defensive players to play that aggressively anymore.

Bogans is by far our best perimeter defender.

The Magic are only now back into a defensive mind set. Redick will not be likely to break into the rotation until his practice-squad D improves.

thats not saying much..look at the starting sg the last 2 weeks

allen-22, bogans-3..... crawford-29, bogans-10.....wade-48, bogans-13......felton-13, bogans-12...... duhon-1 but gordon had 39 from the bench, bogans-14......carter-18, bogans-10......head-12, dooling-9..
i know we make up for it on other positions, especially Center..but we are getting beat at the 2 constantly..

I don't think Redick sees the floor until he's traded.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability
