Stan wasn't so outspoken last year, he's prolly tryin to get more media exposure cuz stuff like this is trully pointless...I mean what the hell, Ewing didn't win anything in the big apple and closed his career away from NY, he earned a crapload of money, retiring his jersey means respect after all.

ESPN wrote:Ewing was honored at halftime, when the Knicks presented seven of their former players with "legends awards." Introduced last, he received a loud ovation from the fans, who seem to appreciate him even more than they did when he was playing in New York from 1985-2000.

I really don't understand what the fuss is all about.

The fact that they have an all time great lineup in their building like we did recently honoring some of the 1989 team with Matty Goukas, Nick Anderson, Sam Vincent and others.

Stan was basically lobbying for Ewing to get a better coaching job.

could you imagine if Ewing goes on to get a coaching job and then say Karl Malone came in to tutor Dwight?? How great would that be? or even Hakeem "that shut down the Orlando Dream"??

Hakeem would be ideal.

Obviously it's Stan trying to help Pat get a head coaching job, and really he's right, why didn't New York ever offer him a job, it is weird. And of course the NY fans are overreacting to this on their board...

No, like others said it's just Stan trying to find a coaching job for Ewing, maybe the franchise is spending too much paying his lunch  I also see that as a shot to D'antoni, Stan talks like NY needs a coach when in theory they're rebuilding already with a "new direction".

Stan > D'Antoni anyway

Mabye Stan should learn how to keep his big mouth shut. Mabye Stan should worry about the fact that Orlando's wingman Turk and Lewis are slumping. I normally wouldn't judge, but first he got in to it with Shaq and now he's picking a fight with the entire Knicks organization. Dude needs to learn when to talk and when not too.

I agree Stan should keep his mouth shut. If Ewing is deserving of an opportunity to be a head coach then he will eventually get one. In my opinion this was Stan taking shots at the Knicks, and he seems to be taking a lot of shots recently. Just shut up, coach, and let the teams play do the talking.

I agreed with Stan in regards to Shaq and I didn't think that was a big deal b/c I thought Shaq was the one at fault honestly. But this is unnecessary. I know he is trying to help Ewing out but you don't need to blast the Knicks organization. They get blasted enough by the media. Our coach should worry more about our team and the upcoming playoffs in his press conferences than blasting people.

Without hearing the entire interview or reading the transcript I cannot be sure, but I would expect that they asked SVG about the ceremony and what it meant to Patrick and he offered his honest opinion. Is he wrong in anything he said? The Knicks pay lip service to Pat but like the article said, despite Ewing's success as an assistant over the last several years, he didn't get any real consideration for a role in New York, whilst they interviewed Mark Jackson, who has spent the last few seasons on TV and never done any coaching. Something certainly seems amiss.

I think that we can't judge what stan said without hearing the entire interview.

Ewing has to prove himself.

He needs to sit in the second chair on the bench.......then, maybe he'd get more consideration.n
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Van Gundy is just talking out of his ass again. He really should stop commenting on other teams or players.
