I'm not saying you build a team around Thompson, but I certainly value a player like Thompson more than David West or Millsap. Long versatile players are key components of championship teams, whether as starters or off the bench.

How can you possibly value an inconsistent, soft, rotational big over an extremely efficient scoring bigman. What kind of logic is that?

You're overrating the hell out of Thompson right now. You're speaking of him like he's Joakim Noah or something. You keep talking about his length and his size as if he uses either of them. JT is a big softee, bro.

Jason Thompson is terrible! He is soft on the interior, and never shows up against the premier bigs. Regardless PHI needs a center.

That's obviously a no-brainer, but I think it was simply Iguodala vs. Millsap being discussed.

Jason Thompson is a reclamation project/change of scenery guy you trade someone like Spights for at best. He is not comparable to Milsap at all.

Al Jefferson was the guy who had a bit of a falling out in Utah at the end of the season. I suspect he will be the one to go to make room for Favors who looks like he could easily grow into a Western Conference center and complement Milsap with his length and boardwork. Kantner could very well fit into their center plans as well.

Jefferson was traded for barely any return by Minnesota and has some big holes in his game (passing, defense), plus a big contract. His strengths are one of our weaknesses, however. Moving Iggy/Speights for Jefferson seems more likely than Milsap who is a relative bargain at his salary from Utah's POV. Iggy and Jefferson are the same age, both have some injury issues, but neither is old. That kind of trade seems more likely than one for Milsap.

Would you guys take something like Barbosa's expiring contract next season, plus Linas Kleiza for Iguodala? Or are you looking for a guy to come in and contribute right away as opposed to shedding dollars?

I highly doubt we trade Iguodala for just expiring contracts. I'd want at least a 2012 or 2011 1st Round pick in there.

No offense, but that deal is pretty terribly thought up. There are probably 8-10 teams in the league that would be willing to offer us cap relief for Iguodala. And in each case, we could probably either get a starting caliber big or a pick to go along with the cap relief.

Looking at your roster, I think the only chance you have of getting Andre is going to be to part with Bargs.

To be honest it was quickly put together as you could probably tell from my post. Bargnani + Barbosa is what you're looking for?

That's probably what it would take to get Thorn's attention. Not sure it would be the best offer we would get. Probably in the top 3 of offers. I have suspicions that Thorn would want to hammer down a 2012 pick in negotiations. I don't think you guys want to overpay to land Andre. Thorn will get someone to though so that's most likely what it would take.

How would you guys feel about a Ian Mahinmi + Marion/Terry's expiring or Mahinmi + Beaubois and Terry/Marion.
Mahinmi was scouted and drafted by the Spurs.

I would honestly offer that. As for the 2012 pick, well that's another story. Toronto is likely to have another high one and with everyone going back to school that draft has the potential to be stacked at the top.

Bargnani would be an interesting pick-up only if he could really slide over and play the 3 like some have suggested. He is too pathetically bad of a rebounder to play the 4 or 5 long term, plus a very indifferent defender. I don't think Bargnani's fairly relaxed way of playing would win over many in Philly, he is pretty much the antithesis of what Philly players are all about. An intriguing talent for sure, but he could end up getting booed out of town pretty quickly.

Offensively in the halfcourt, this team would be something to watch though. Between Brand's range stretching out to the elbow and Bargs stretching out to beyond three point line. Holiday and Turner would get about 10 layups a game between the two of them.

Bargnani cannot play the 3 very well, unless u have Dwight Howard and Duncan at the 4 and 5.
Even then I think this shows how much fans value 3 point shooting over defense.

I know we did that with Bargs/Bosh/JO and it was meh  JO provided epic rim protection though and he was actually turning Bargs into a man, then our smartass GM traded him for a rented bag of chips named Shawn Marion...who turned into Turkeypoo.

Bargs has played Centre almost his entire time in Toronto when he's clearly a Power Forward. I think he could do wonders for your offense though at the 4. Would Speights be a fair filler with Iggy for Bargs + Barbosa? I just saw that his salary would match so I thought I'd inquire.
