Anyone interested in judging the Be the GM Teams?

Post#1 » by ZarcMumoff » Mon May 30, 2011 1:41 am

Decided to make a separate thread so it's a bit cleaner.

If you haven't seen the 220+ page thread, that is the Be the GM thread. Basically, it's about 25 of us drafting players to fill out a team. Kind of like a fantasy draft, except not so much about stats as it is about just getting good overall players.

What I'm asking a few of you to do is judge these teams. The GMs will do a write-up on their team. Talking about the players, how they fit, what type of team they are...basically selling you on their team. The GMs will be posting these in another thread (Which we shall call "Be the GM Judging Thread").

When will all this take place? Well, from June 3rd-June 5th teams will be posting their write up in the Judging thread. On June 6th and June 7th, that is when you *the judge(s)* will be judging the team. What will you be judging them on?

Championship Contending (Can they win a title?) 30 points
Future (positioned to attain or sustain success over the next 5 years) 15 points
Roster Management (Did they build a smart team that fits together?) 5 points
Total Points=50 points

After judging the teams based off that, give your Top 8 teams from each conference (from the championship contending category, not overall).

I understand this is going to take a good amount of work, but we have put in 2 or 3 weeks of work for this. I know there are some smart people on this board, and hopefully you'll help sharing your knowledge by judging our teams.

If you have any questions, let me know. If you want to judge, let me know in this thread.

Are you accepting people in the league as judges?

No. Well, preferably not. If we can get 3-5 non-Be the GM guys, that would be ideal.

I'm still thinking how we would do the judging if we can't get some non- guys to judge. Whether we would just do it the same way, or whatnot.

Alot of the opinions I value happen to be of users than own teams in this. I mean worst comes to worst, you can just accept 5 judges from each conference to analyze their opposite conference.

That way you have unbiased opinions and you get analysis from people who are committed to the league.

Smarter than me. That's a good idea. Except I'd probably do only 3 judges.

Still...I would like some non-Be the GM guys. Obviously, they would need to be guys who post around here a lot...board regulars.

You might ask some of the mods at other boards or at the general board?

I'm in on this if you'd let me. I love analysis and I'm interested to see what kind of teams were built!

Any interest in me asking Brian Ward? He runs Depressedfan.com, one of the best Sixer blogs out there. He really knows his stuff and would really put in the time to be a good judge. I could also ask some of the people who run Libertyballers (like DBodner) if we need more judges. We could also ask Tom Moore.

Having Sixer Bloggers and journalists be the judges would be like having a celebrity panel (think American Idol). especially if we ask Mike Levin at Libertyballers.com.

This is PK5's show. he makes the decisions. As far as I'm concerned you should be on the panel.

My E-Mail is pjxn23 if you have any questions, or you can just post them here.

Really appreciate it...mucho gracias.

I sent an email to Kate Fagan, Tom Moore and the Bloggers at Depresedfan, Libertyballers and Recliner GM.

There are some very good posters at those sites who are not bloggers who I'm sure would make great judges, but we should probably wait and see if we get a good panel from this list. The other person I'm going to ask is Howard mass, who runs things here.

Sounds excellent. Thanks for the help, tk.

Still...anyone here is more than welcomed to help.

Brian, who runs Depressed Fan, is in as a judge.

It looks like you may have a pretty good cast of judges. If you decide you want another, just holler. I'd definitely be up for it.

83SixersRocked, the more realGM posters we get as judges the better.
