While I very much understand the 'salary controlled' nature of Bennett's deal, and how that would be a benefit... however, he's really not very good. It seems like the Wolves would not be in 'full tear it down' mode, since they are already paying Pek, and are about to pay Rubio. It would seem like a stable Vet like Thad would make much more sense, even if he does opt out and they resign him at 7+ going forward.

Bennett, who had a disappointing rookie campaign, would be under salary control for a minimum of two more years, while Young can opt out of his contract after next season.

He has 1 year right now, then a team option then another team option. So, you could argue he is under control for 1 year. Or for 3. But 2 is logically inconsistent and wrong.

Bennett would be a restricted free agent going into his fourth year if his team picks up option, giving them the chance to match another team's offer. They only have to pick up option for his third year (deadline is late October).
