Bennett, who had a disappointing rookie campaign, would be under salary control for a minimum of two more years, while Young can opt out of his contract after next season.

He has 1 year right now, then a team option then another team option. So, you could argue he is under control for 1 year. Or for 3. But 2 is logically inconsistent and wrong.

Bennett would be a restricted free agent going into his fourth year if his team picks up option, giving them the chance to match another team's offer. They only have to pick up option for his third year (deadline is late October).

No. That is all incorrect.

Restricted free agency is after the 4th year. There is indeed a team option for the 4th year, following the team option for the third year assuming it is picked up.

Not picking on you, but this also is not true:
Minnesota would probably prefer to do the Sixers' deal later because the $4.6 million trade exception it would receive for the difference in swapped salaries with Cleveland drops to $3 million if the Young portion is factored in.

You don't get a TPE based upon a heap of players for a heap of players and the difference, you get it based upon how you arrange the salaries.

As such, they can easily get the same 4.6m TPE if it is a 3 team deal (and actually have another option in theory).

And the final result looks to be a 6.3m tpe (in a way I didn't see beforehand -- Love for Thad and {Shved and LMAM} for {Wiggins and Bennett}).

You are correct. Just received an explanation that it essentially was Thad for Love. Thanks.

Young, who makes $9.2 million, was likely to decline his $9.7 million player option next summer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Not sure if you are intentionally missing likely bonuses, or using a bad site.

However, unless they got reclassified this afternoon, he has 250k in likely bonuses so it would normally be the numbers of $9,410,869 and $9,971,739. Personally I would recommend matching the long standing convention, but if you prefer not, might want to footnote the difference with the other amounts going forward.

Alternatively if you are using somewhere like hoopshype, I would recommend switching to sham -- http://data.shamsports.com/content/page ... sixers.jsp as hoopshype tends to screw up small details pretty consistently.
