As the CEO of Be-The-GM ( ), I certainly hope to do one this summer. I'm going to wait a bit longer for the board popularity to rise (with the draft and such), but sign-ups should be posted just after the Draft Lottery...or at the least around that area.

How would this work, could you give a brief explanation?

This is from last year's Be-the-GM. It was the 4th year, thus we called it BTG 4.0.

-You're a real GM

-You draft NBA players who are currently under contract.

- This will be a snake draft, which means that all of your selections will be made in whatever draft position you are assigned. The draft order reverses after every round. Example - If you have the #1 pick in the first round, then you will have the last pick in the second round & vice versa.

- The draft lottery will take place 24 hours after all 30 teams are assigned a GM.

- 12 round draft. You must have at least 10 picks/players at all times.

- You can propose a trade immediately following the draft lottery.

- If you're caught name dropping (posting a player's name before he gets picked) you will be relieved of your GM duties.

- Salaries WILL NOT be taken into account, so feel free to choose whoever you want, as long as they are currently in the NBA. Players overseas are not eligible.

- Once you post your draft pick, you will not be able to go back & change that pick.

- You will be given 5 days to write & a submit a summary of your team after the draft is over. The rubric will be posted before draft night.

- We'll get a few judges to decide the best team in 4.0.

- A sim on NBA 2K13 will take place shortly after the judging is over.

- The sim winner & the winner selected by the judges will both be crowned victorious after everything wraps up.

Here is how the schedule worked...

1st Round - 5th Round: 6 hours between picks
6th Round - 8th Round: 4 hours between picks
9th Round - 12th Round - 2 hours between picks

Hypothetically speaking, if PK5 is the 8th pick and I'm the 9th pick, and he makes his selection at 8:48 AM, I have until 2:48 PM to make my selection. If I made my selection at 9:33 AM, then the person after me has until 3:33 PM, etc., etc. This is so you don't have a certain time slot like we have had in years past. We are doing this so it's just more fair for everyone, including those who live on the other side of world. This is merely for those who check the board a few times a day. If you feel that you won't be able to make your pick in time, simply just send me a PM of a small list, around 3-4 players, who you are eyeing (make sure they are in order based on want) & I'll pick the player for you.

Sounds like fun, I did this on nba2k before just giggles.

The picks will be random with every team starting off with 1 pick per round? i.e. not based on this years upcoming draft positions?

No, I don't think so. Version 1.0 we had posters around here do it, and version 2.0 we have some of the Liberty Ballers. Last year specifically, it really died down towards the end. That's why, hopefully this year, the board will be live.
