Sixers fans big board: Pick #3 (POLL)

Post#1 » by HartfordWhalers » Thu Apr 17, 2014 4:44 pm

#1 was Wiggins
#2 was Embiid
On to #3.

Again, this is the player you most wish the Sixers would pick f the remainig players, not who you think will go 3rd in some mock draft.

Poll choices being filled out by Dx mock draft, but if you want another choice upcoming just make some noise about it.

Going with Exum on a BPA basis. The last of the big 3 who have the potential to be good to great on both ends of the floor. May not be a great fit with MCW, but is the BPA and now is not the time to worry about fit as a number of guys we draft from last year through 2015 will not necessarily be on the team by the time they are contenders.

I lived through the Barkley and Iverson years where the team had to be built around the star player's defensive deficencies and have no desire to do so again by passing over an equally or more talented two way player.

This is probably unfair to him because I really don't know, but I'm concerned that Exum will essentially refuse to play here.

I went with Jabari.

I agree with taking the BPA. Don't know if that is Exum or Parker, but evaluating raw athleticism...Exum has more potential.

Tough call for any GM, but I'd go Exum because from the limited action I have watched, Exum appears to have the superstar upside.

He'll play here. If we have his rights, he'll play for us.

I go with Exum based on the athleticism, although according to the last year draft express scouting report he cannot shoot, which makes him and MCW a no-go long term. But for now, BPA and still have issues with Jabari 's athleticism to put him top 3. I know there are at least a couple other teams that will covet Jabari and pay a lot to get him, so a trade down is not out of the question if the Sixers were to fall to 3 and Wiggins and Embiid were gone.

#3 Exum

I definitely agree with Skates. Focus on 2-way players

Based on positional value, Exum may be the guy people look to trade up for. A high scoring wing is valuable, but a more athletic and stronger looking MCW/Derrick Rose love child at PG is uber valuable. I wouldn't rule out grabbing Exum at 3 and trading him for Parker and an asset if the price was right.

Yeah, that's a possibility too. If the Sixers do fall to 3, I imagine Hinkie and his minions will be lighting up everyone's phones.

I'm going Parker here for a few reasons.

- He can put the ball through the hoop. Plain and simple, the kid's a baller. In Brett Brown's system, I think he can be special.

- He plays big and isn't afraid of contact. He can do it all.. back to the basket/face up/pull up. He reminds a lot of Melo in this sense and I don't like how some think that's a knock on the kid. Jabari has a high basketball IQ

- Exum has made it clear he wants to play PG in this league. If we are drafting third, I want to make sure the person I'm coming here arrives in a happy mood. Plus we have MCW so I don't think PG is a pressing need.

Parker seems the most poised to make an immediate impact in the NBA, though I don't know if his upside is as high as Wiggins/Embiid, so he's third pick for me. I love the kid and would not be disappointed if we ended up "settling" for him as our pick.

This is true. I worded my response wrongly.

What I mean is, yeah he'll play here, but I worry about what his attitude will be. Will he be difficult to coach & be looking for a way out? The last thing I want is for us to finally land our superstar, only for him to want to be moved. If he's happy in Philly, and shows he wants to play here, then great. But if he refuses to work out for whatever reason, no I wouldn't draft him.

I should add that I would choose Jabari regardless. I really don't know a whole hell of a lot on Exum to be perfectly honest, but one thing I do know is that he's a poor outside shooter. I'm really sick of this running theme with the 76ers.

All of this is for not though. We'll have the #1 pick and be deciding between Wiggins and Embiid.

It is the Philadelphia 76ers...our...destiny to have the #1 pick in the 2014 NBA draft. We're going to win the lottery because the basketball gods love us and will care for us.
