I think you gus are overreacting about the rebounding. Not many balls fell his way.

+1

And I don't think it's that big of an issue specially with our team out rebounded the magic 52 to 44. FWIW, on eyetest, he could easily get those boards and he let his teammates get (steal) a number of those boards.

I think Noel will have more boards in the next few games. Just like MCW adjusting after people were criticized his TOs.

You can't take anything from this game other than that he looked great physically. He also clearly has confidence in his knee.

Outside of that, I take it as a positive that his free throw percentage looks like it may be improved, but even that could be a fluke. Let's see how he does trough out both summer leagues.

I expect him to be a good rebounder this year, with potential to be better than that.

Noel looks like an energy guy off the bench at best.

I agree.

As I said, I am not taking anything from the game other than how he looked physically. He hit all of his free throws which doesn't mean he is going to shoot 90 plus percent this year, but it was something that he really worked on this past year so maybe that is evidence of improvement. Too early to tell.

The rest of my opinion about him is based on him as a prospect coming out of college. Stats in summer league are irrelevant, but shooting form and athleticism can be seen.

His shot isn't as ugly as before. My biggest thing that I want to see from him this year, outside of his health, is his improved shooting touch from the foul line and from 10-15 foot jumpers.

^^^^Hater alert. Every website I looked at said how impressed they were with Noel, I think with the amount of minutes he will get this year and his improved free throw shooting he will average the same as Dwight Howard did his Rookie year but better assists and steals 12-10-2-2-2 which probably won't be enough to Win rookie of the year but you never know....

Yup, Nerlen look like a young Dwight to me. He is going to be a menace on the defensive end with a really raw offensive game. As long as he bulk up and not get push around under the post, I won't be too worried about his rebounding game.

I don't think it's an overreaction to say his rebound numbers will be lower than fan's expectation. He's still too thin and his game was never really one that hunts down rebounds. He's more interested in altering shots. Missed the game yesterday, but it looks like he's taking on more of a face up game than he did at UK. Looks very impressive. I'm just relieved that he is as explosive as he was at UK.

And I wasn't lying about his ability to steal. His agility is truly amazing for someone his size.

I was very happy with how good Noel looked overall....and if he can even be a 75% FT shooter, we've got something special.

That said, I can't believe how ugly his jump shot still is. I mean, don't you start from the old school "T", moving the arm straight up, follow through, etc? How have they worked on his jump shot for a year and it looks like that still? Really?

Noel's lack of rebounding doesn't matter. He alters a lot of shots and that allows other players to fly in for the rebounds. for example Thompson had 14 yesterday, and we outrebounded Orlando by 8 due in part to Noel's shotblocking presence.

I thought he looked great yesterday. He is going to be our franchise 4 and I'm pumped about that.
I speak the truth.

Noel as a stretch 4 I don't think will ever happen.

Embiid and Noel will be a nasty front court.

I think that much is obvious. It's just a matter of getting them on the court healthy together

Noel is a defensive specialist. What he brings to the table is a disruptive presence that will force turnovers and bad shots. He's agile enough to step out on screens and guard opponents' wings. The blocked shots and steal stats will definitely be there.

As for scoring, as long as he isn't blowing lay-ups or forcing his offense, he will be fine. I do not believe Brett Brown is expecting Nerlens to be our 2nd or even 3rd top scoring threat. I don't think this team needs him to be a >14-15 PPG scorer. If he is, I consider it a bonus. I was pleased to see him knock down all his FT's yesterday because we all know due to his speed and athleticism that he will be able to work his way to the line this season.

I thought he looked pretty confident out there. His face-up game looks polished because I really feared we'd have another young Samuel Dalembert who was pretty streaky under and around the basket. Luckily that doesn't seem to be the case.

As for Noel's rebounding, it will develop. Like mentioned before, you can't judge his rebounding ability on one summer league game. No reason to panic as we do not have a Roy Hibbert situation on our hands here where a 7-footer is unable to be effective on the glass. We also most likely won't see Noel be a DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard, Kevin Love top rebounder. If Nerlens can just make sure to be in the right position and use what strength he has developed since rehab, I think he will be fine (not going to project a stat ATM though).

Well said^^^I agree, I think he's going to be an opportunistic scorer, but I can see him putting up 13-15 a game just by doing such.

Noel as a stretch 4 would be such a waste. Don't think anyone is anticipating or hoping he becomes one. But he certainly can play the 4.

Seeing how good Noel looked reminded me of tbat potential Wiggins/MCW/Noel trio. Wonder who we take at 10

I agree, but it seemed like some of us were expecting a legit jump shot from him considering he put a lot of work into it since the injury. I think he's more high energy, high activitiy like a Kennerth Faried, or Shawn Marion which is great!

Noel actually has skill, which is what I don't think the general fan seems to get about him.
they act like he's a super raw Aaron Gordon type prospect

he's gonna be a great one in this league. very unique skill set that very few players before him have had
