Alexey Shved

Figure I'd start a thread on Shved since he's coming here. What do you guys think of him? Alot of people are overlooking this piece in the trade but as others have mentioned, he could potentially be flipped for a 2nd rounder at the deadline. He should have a good chance at our starting SG spot.

He's not as awful as I thought after looking at his metrics, specifically rapm, not as much of a liability as I was expecting. We'll see, imagine he'll either be the second or third guard off the bench after Wroten usually and/or McDaniels.

He's allergic to touching his man on defense and is scared to make mistakes on offense and looks to pass all the time. If you like having physically and mentally strong players on your team, this guy might be the last guy on your list.

I'm actually a big fan of his and I'm sad to see him go. He didn't play to his strengths in Adelman's system and I was hoping to see how he'd do as the primary ball handler in the 2nd unit.

He's got a good handle, great court vision and a silky-smooth jumper. He's an underrated playmaker. Yes, he's weak mentally, which is what will hold him back from being a great player, but when he's locked in, he is absolutely fearless.

Rick Adelman destroyed his confidence. I hope he gets it back because he's so fun to watch when his confidence is up. I'll definitely be rooting for him. The lobs to Noel and Embiid will be insane.

I'm excited about getting Shved. I hope he thrives in Philly and is kept around. I think he'd be a nice piece off the bench.

ALL ABOUT THE SHVED BANWAGON!!! I AM STEERING THIS!!!

EVISCERATES OKC. He's just a confidence player and BB will instill it in him. Our Pace and Space offense works beautifully for him too.

Hopefully he can play like he did the 1st half of his rookie season. He'll get the opportunity.

playing him as a backup PG might get something done. Playing off the ball he has nothing to offer - he has to be able to set things up with the ball in his hands, otherwise it's just a bevy of terrible contested jumpers with bad form. He should never share the floor with MCW. NBA.com shows 405 records of players that took 1 or more catch and shoot jumpers per game last season, Shved ranked 314th and MCW was 343rd. But then Wroten was 367th and McDaniels...I don't know, strong defense and run in transition I guess. That's what the Wolves will have to do too.

Wroten plus Moultrie plus GSW 2nd for Harrison Barnes? That solves the Shved position question.

Sims/Varnado/(Embiid)
Noel/LRMAM/Davies
Barnes/McDaniels/Grant
McRae/Thompson/Richardson
MCW/Shved/(Jackson)

I'm joining you bro woot woot  a little old to be a part of our future as he is turning 26 at the end of the year but you can never know I think he can be a solid player if he regains his confidence.

I think that IF he comes to camp in shape (which he did not last fall with the Wolves) and IF he plays well, you make him the starting SG, give him 30 mpg for the first 15-20 games, and see if we have something. The guy has some talent...but it sounds he did not take care of himself last summer, was in **** shape, got in Adelman's doghouse and stayed there.

And no backup PG for me...either he takes this opportunity seriously (the realistic potential to be a starter and get serious minutes - which he hasn't had since midway through his rookie season), or it is back to CKSA for him.

Shved is a PG, not a SG. If he pans out it's gonna be as your backup PG. He needs the ball.

I've liked Shved since his rookie season, but haven't watched a lot of him and the Timberwolves. If Alexey wasn't turning 26 in December I would be all over him. He just seems really old on this roster, which doesn't say much. But gives me the impression he may not be in the team's after this year.

We saw MCW and Wroten on the floor quite a bit last season, which worked fine but not great. I'd like to see McRae and McDaniels get big minutes with MCW on the floor. So a back-court of Shved and Wroten would be great off the bench.

Why is he not capable of being a SG? He has the size and arhleticism to play SG.

I've seen every game he played as a wolf, and for the Russian Olympic team. He is not a SG, it's a brain issue. He knows how to play with the ball, he doesn't know how to play without it, not at an NBA level. His measurements aren't relevant to his ability.

He can be a creative PG, he is not a creative SG. Pretending otherwise is why he's looked so bad the last couple seasons, playing SG with JJ Barea at PG was a horrible fit for him.
