If I have to choose between Covington and Noel as far as who would I rather resign toa big contract, it is Covington and it's not close. I have moved in to the camp of think long term and trade Nerlens.

It's almost time guys.

Parsons got 46x3 in 2014, when the cap was 70 mil.
Scaling on the 2017-2018 cap (102 mil), that contract is equal to 65x3.

What do you think? I'm a Cov lover&believer so it's a no brainer for me.
Better scenario would be a frontloded 80x4 with the last year as team opition.

Thoughts?

Maybe we can arrange an agreement with him that we will decline his team option (1M) for 2017-2018 but give him an offer of 15M per year for 4 years? Is it legal to do that?

I think if we miss out on a max guy this summer we should just pay him more next year and extend him.

RoCo is one of the best perimeter defenders in this league and our best defender on the perimeter. If he ever gets his 3-point shot back, I would pay him 15+M per year with ease. I wouldn't even think about it.

ESPN updated their RPM rankings this morning for the first time since prior to the All-Star break.

Covington now grades 8th among SFs (still 1st in DRPM) behind 6 All-Stars and Otto Porter.

I bet amongst all the Okafor and Noel trade talk this past trade deadline, Colangelo was presented plenty of offers to pry Covington away from the Sixers.

I'm just hoping we can re-sign him for a reasonable price where he remains an asset instead of becoming a liability due to an inflated contract.

He's not going to give us a discount nor should he. It's a business. He wants to get paid. This may be his best chance to max out his money.

Pay Rock.

BC really only respects ISO though......a typical Prokafor.....hopefully someone in that FO has a clue.

Funny, this thread started with "trade the man" and now we are at "pay the man"

Really happy for Cov, but the right thing to do it's probably in the middle, i.e. "pay not too much the man".

You'd have to apply the It's Only Hinkiedelphia Handicap of -14% but where would RC3-D be in Most Improved?

Hes established himself as one of the better perimeter defenders in the league. He's streaky, but makes 3's and can make them at high volume. He rebounds well and generates steals at a good rate. He has also made some big shots for us in close games.

Dude may seriously get paid. Just something we need to probably start thinking about with Noel's impending FA.

Absolutely. He's had some growing pains throughout these last few treacherous years, but Roco is really coming into his own as a starting-caliber player. Potential to be an elite wing defender and besides his shooting he does a lot of little things. Nice rebounder, hustler. I definitely want to lock him up. One of Hinkie's gems. Whoever said he's trash and just "jacks up threes," must be a clueless fan for the last 15 years.

To be fair to the guy though, Cov does jack up a lot of horrible 3s.
