Game 47: Sixers @ Jazz 2/1 10p TNT (The Beginning Of The End)

Post#1 » by ExplosionsInDaSky » Fri Feb 2, 2024 12:53 am

Well, this is post Embiid time. I haven't heard anything about Maxey giving it a go tonight. I don't know what to say at this point. I'm kind of in shock at the moment. This doesn't look like a winnable game with the way we've been playing vrs the way the Jazz have been playing. I'm just feeling down at the moment about our team with the news we just got smacked with. I hope Embiid recovers from this and really just takes his time getting back into form. In the meantime, we got a game tonight. Do the young guys get to play? That's really all I can look forward to at this point. I don't think we can sustain without our guy, but who knows? Maybe the team figures it out.

At this point, I think Morey and Nurse are taking the long view, that the playoffs are what is really important and making sure Embiid will be healthy come that time if needed. Meanwhile, the decision has to be made whether to punt the season or make a trade deadline move. To me, unless a difference making trade is out there, which is highly doubtful, I'd prefer to shut Embiid down and maybe make moves to acquire more assets if possible. But I can't share the angst over these mid-season games - the regular season is a means to an end, be it the playoffs or retooling for next season.

In a way, this game tonight is a bit of a relief. Our expectations are instantly scaled back due to his injury and maybe the guys will just play loose and have fun. I just hope we're competitive tonight and this game ends up being a good one.

Like Embiid, I’m shutting it down until at least the weekend (when they return to the east coast). Can’t be up until 1am watching these bums play the western conference.

At least Maxey going off tonight temporarily numbs the pain of the Embiid injury.

Refs clearly didn't want Maxey to get 50

Of course we win this road game against a good Western conference team with half our roster including the MVP in the medical tent.

If the Jazz aren't into Kris Dunn I'd trade for him if Embiid is coming back this year.

Refs tried to help Jazz by making it a physical game. Helps them because Philly is short handed and Joel draws fouls

Maxey had a little pop to his game in his return . He was more elusive with his dribble.

Poor guy is about to get ran to the ground
