The fight for the 6th seed

Remaining schedules
This is where things look encouraging for the Sixers. Their remaining schedule is by far the easiest in the entire NBA, and while ending the season on an eight-game winning streak and finishing at 47-35 may seem far-fetched, a quick glance at the schedule proves it is a possibility.

The Sixers' remaining schedule...

Opponent Record
at Grizzlies 26-50
at Spurs 18-58
vs. Pistons 13-63
vs. Magic 45-31
vs. Nets 30-47

Of their five games, four come against opponents who are not just eliminated from playoff contention of any kind, but at least 17 games under .500. Their only opponent who should give them any trouble is Orlando, and while the Magic have become a good and exciting team, they lack the talent that a fully-healthy Sixers squad has — and the Sixers have beaten them handily on each of the two occasions in which the teams met earlier this season.

Additionally, the Sixers only have one back-to-back, which is the set of road games against Memphis and San Antonio. It stands to reason that Joel Embiid would not play in both legs of a road-road back-to-back so soon after returning from such a serious injury, but even if he sits in one of those two games, the Sixers have more than enough firepower to take care of business.

Winning out is an extremely ambitious goal, even if it looks increasingly possible on paper. So let's say the Sixers win four of their final five contests and finish the season at 46-36. In order to usurp the Sixers and stay out of the Play-In Tournament, the Pacers would need to go 3-2 in their final five games, while the Heat would likely need to go 4-2 over their final six contests (barring tie-breaker madness).

Three of the Pacers' five remaining games come against teams fighting hard for favorable playoff seeding — including one against Miami. Their remaining slate of games...

Opponent Record
vs. Thunder 52-24
vs. Heat 42-34
at Raptors 23-53
at Cavaliers 46-31
vs. Hawks 36-41

Miami's remaining schedule, however, is a bit easier than Indiana's. Their remaining six contests are as follows...
IMO not as easy as the article says. Rockets/Pacers/Hawks/Mavs can easily beat the Heat on their day.

Opponent Record
at Rockets 38-38
at Pacers 43-34
at Hawks 36-41
vs. Mavericks 46-30
vs Raptors 25-53
vs. Raptors 25-53

We have a good shot at the 6. Gotta try to win out, or at worst lose only 1. IMO as I said in an earlier post I'd try to play Jo the back to back so he can continuing improving his conditioning. Just rest him a little bit in the back to back.

Boxscore watching for today.

Need the following losses:

Pacers lose to Thunder - Thunder currently beating the Pacers 22-13 in the 1st with 5:@9 to go. Honestly surprised that SGA and Jalen Williams are still resting?

Do they really not want the 1st seed? They are one game out.

Heat to lose to Rockets.

Just to make it spicy

I'm enjoying the Bucks demise, if they drop further that would be hilarious.

Just looking at how close the Bucks are to 3rd seed, it would be hilarious that we get the 6th then get the Bucks the 1st round. Still think we could beat them but I'd much prefer Cleveland.

Well OKC was useless, shocked that SHai and Jalen Williams are still sitting out, they are going to drop to 3. Heat were down against the Rockets but now theyr'e up 10. I think that Heat Pacers game will help us with one of them losing. Who would we want to lose if the Heat win tonight?

I think the Bulls and Hawks aren't aiming to play in the playoffs. With Lavine and Trae both out, I expect both teams to raise the white flag early and treat the entire play-in as just a formality.

I've reconsidered things. I would love to see Joel with this team healthy, healthy himself and just needing to get into shape against Boston. No better way to find out what this team really looks like, and he'll likely never be healthier than in the first round.

There's a dirty little secret that exists, and Thunder neither want nor need the 1st seed. IYKYK

Why they don't want Lakers or Warriors?

Given the schedule i would be surprised at the Heat and the Pacers both losing 2 games. They play each other but the rest of their schedule is almost a joke.

The heat could lose against the Mavs and (maybe) the Hawks, the Pacers play the Raptors, the Hawks and the Cavs.

As far as the Sixers go, we need to go 5-0 and it mostly would depend on the back to back because i assume Joel will not play both games and then the Magic game

I would say the odds are pretty low

We should probably aim for the 7 seed anyway. The Bucks are extremely vulnerable & beating Giannis, Dame, and Doc in round 1 would be a huge moral boost to the franchise.

I see no difference beating Doc in the first round or second.
6/7 seed is the goal.
I want the Sixers to win out.

Fawns could easily fall to #3 or worse. Can't bank on them staying at #2.

I actually want the 8 seed and get the chance to slay the Celtics right off the bat, but given that means we'd be playing an elimination game to get there that seems like an unnecessary shooting variance risk.

Other than that I don't care. We are easily the second best team in the conference when healthy and if we aren't 8 that means we can't play Boston until the ECF (I don't think 5 is in play).

Orlando will play Milwaukee twice and are only a game behind for 2nd.

Will be a frenzy to end the season.

Philly like 3 games out of 2nd seed. That Joel less collapse was dreadful

The only thing to fight for is to avoid the play in, where anything can happen... Like playing Boston or whatever...

2-4 can all be had though in the first round
