It seems to me that the NBA is allowing a lot more physicality than star players are used to, mainly because they have benefited from favorable calls for years. This means they haven't had to rely on playing with as much physicality and energy to achieve the results they want. Now, with the NBA suddenly changing the way they call games, it gives more power to role players who can minimize the talent gap by being more physical and energetic. A prime example of this is Josh Hart in our series against the Knicks.

It took us until game 1 to truly realize that the referees are allowing such a high level of physicality. And it ultimately took us until game 2 to understand that not only can the referees control the physicality, but they can also influence the outcome of the game.

One big lesson from the playoffs this year: Washed stars are washed.

Edit: Kawhi, LeBron, Durant, George, Harden, and Lillard all have okay stats but are not nearly as impactful as they were. Not including Beal because he was never impactful. Klay has completely fallen off, stats aren't even good.

LAC and PHX certainly have big off seasons coming up if these playoff results hold. The Suns made a dreadful move with Beal, and are now saddled with three max contracts that can't get a win in the 1st round and zero flexibility. The Clippers are staring at maxing three diminishing, aging players with a brand new building about to open. I wouldn't want the task of trying to clean up those messes with two very hands on owners that want results pronto.

I doubt Booker happens though as he'll go for a premium, and is the lone building block who is young that the Suns have.

We shouldn't sign 34-35 years old to big and multi year contracts, people need to understand that the Lebrons of the world are outliers, a big decline is the norm. There is no need to gamble. 29-30 years old like Butler was at the time, it's ok in that case. A happy medium need to be chased, no need to overrate youth, but also don't sign too old stars, like 35 years old. If we are talking about small guards, substract like 3-4 years or so.

It's crazy to think it now, but I still think Durant would be a perfect fit here between Maxey and Embiid. Does Phoenix move him? He's not really the problem with that team. He's still a great scorer, just can't carry them by himself.
