I thought it was pretty clear that Luiz and him were left alone by everyone from their team. Surely Dante and Luiz couldve done a bit better on a few of those goals but it doesnt take away the fact that Maicon, Marcelo, Fernandinho and Luiz Gustavo left them hanging in the air refusing to defend. I have critizised Höwedes but he is a WC FB compared to Marcelo&Maicon yesterday.

Julio Cesar basically letting every shot go into his net didnt help either.

I mean how many times were Dante&Luiz alone against 3 or 4 German counter attackers?

Definitely but GOAT is probably still Brazilian team winning 3 out of 4. (not sure how much overlap there was in the squad besides Pele)

P.S. I don't even think this German team is close to being the best German team ever.

Both are classics. Neighboring countries, and Robben vs many of his Bayern teammates, hard not to like the Netherlands v Germany match up if it comes to it. But, I'm Dutch. ;)

Could never be more true.

Well, this saying became something of a meme because of the perception at some point in time that German teams often scored in the final minute, and won even if they were outplayed, and generally, just came out on top, in particular against English and Dutch sides, where the saying is most known I think - before the viral age (Belgium too).

In my opinion the saying would have been more appropriate of the game against Algeria, for example. Algeria played out of their minds but in the end the Germans (always) win.

There's also a saying about Italy, coined by Frank de Boer iirc, from back when they were a contender every big tournament, which goes something like: They can't win against you but you can lose to them (lol).

Don't see the relevance of this. My point stands- Brazil lost because they were missing their best two players on either side of the field, lacked proper replacements, and didn't show much of a strategy at all to try to minimize the impact and a lot of that latter part is on Scolari.

The USA and Ghana don't rely on any single player the way Brazil relies on Neymar to create offense, or Thiago Silva to organize the defense. Sure, the guys who played today- Marcelo, Luiz, Dante, and Maicon- were awful defensively, and the midfield kept giving the ball away, but Brazil still managed plenty of chances in the opening minutes of either half that could have gone very differently if Neymar had been on the field. And David Luiz trying to win the ball in midfield wouldn't have been nearly as bad a mistake if he had Thiago Silva covering the defense for him.

So you think Brazil would've won if Neymar and Silva were playing?

Both are classics. Agreed but we can see them in the Euros. Desperately want to see Argentina get booed by the Brazilians in the Finals lol.

No, Germany was going to be the better team regardless of Brazil's health. But at least they would have put up a better fight. The players went into yesterday's game completely dejected.

I think it could've easily been different if brazil used more defensive tactics with neymar and silva. We seen algeria, ghana, france, and heck even the U.S hold up pretty well against germany this year because they were ready to play. If brazil came in with the full lineup and the leader on D, who knows what would have happened.

Neymar and silva change everything. Fred is a terrible player at this point in his career, and isn't going to get anything done. Brazil isn't as deep as we think, missing those 2 stings

I do feel bad for the people in Brazil. They've waited so long for this moment, to host a World Cup, and to lose like this? I mean it's one thing to lose if it's a hard fought match on both sides with one play deciding it, but they just didn't show up at all. Embarassing.

My Germany over Argentina prediction is looking better and better each day...

Cruzeirao, as a Brasilian, please comment on this. Did you hear anything about us killing people to clear up parts of cities for the WC? I know a lot of people who were living in places where they were not supposed to be living in got kicked out and sent packing, which is still bad, but we KILLED thousands?

cgf wrote:
Then why did they kill thousands to clear parts of cities to be built up for the WC? Parts of the cities that didn't end up actually getting rebuild as the money for those project got pocketted by corrupt officials? That may not be on par with qatar's use of slave labor, but is still disgusting and savage.

I never heard anything about killing people to clear up part of cities.

That's a lie!!!!

"If this sounds abnormal or particularly ominous to you, there's no reason to be alarmed. This is standard procedure around the world for away fans, especially for rivalry games or very important games. Away fans are kept in one section, police and security wait for all the home and neutral fans to clear, then away fans are escorted out of the stadium to their transportation."

Well, i saw a lot of germany fans leaving withou protection...

The article mentions a group of germany... There were a lot leaving with no problem.

Just coming in here to congratulate the German's. Well played, great football. Unbelievable how they just piled up on us with consecutive goals like it was nothing. We were like deer caught in the headlights of multiple monster trucks who just crushed us one by one. Also I'd like to give a big up to the German players and fans. First of all, the German team yesterday..they wrecked us, but NOT ONCE did they try to mock us or humiliate us. They didn't try to mock our fragile, destroyed players who were on the field, they didn't try to mock our fans and just got about their business. Today, I have seen guys like Muller, Ozil, Schwein and Podolski write great messages to the people and players of Brasil. They are truly respecting the tradition of one of the greatest football countries ever. It's funny because I see the Colombians(who we supported and showed great respect to by us when we beat them a couple days ago), Mexicans, Spanish, Portuguese, English etc all trying to humiliate us and stain our glorious football history for this travesty of a performance, while the German's themselves have been world **** class. Much respect to them. Best of luck in the final.

To the people who admire Brazilian soccer and to the people that just admire well played football, I'd like to just apologize on behalf of the Brazilian people for such a shameful performance. I wish there could be an explanation for the disgraceful performance you all saw yesterday. Worse performance EVER from the 'Selecao' at such a critical moment in a dream world cup in our home land. For the people who are loving to watch a football giant get destroyed and hoped for this since the start of the world cup, enjoy it while it lasts. The dream of winning one in our house is over, but we will certainly be back soon to erase this junk. That's a promise.
A new dawn will rise in Boston. ‎#StayLoyal THANK YOU TRUTH!
