Official FC Bayern Munich Thread

Post#1 » by Maex » Wed Jul 23, 2014 10:40 pm

After more and more threads for individual clubs are created, I thought it might be time for a thread for one of the best clubs in the world: FC Bayern Munich or as said in Bavaria FC Bayern München.

Bayern Munich at the World Cup 2014:

No other club had more players at the world cup as Bayern Munich. 14 when the cup started, 12 in the second stage, 10 in quarter finals, 9 at the semi finals, and 7 at the final.

No other club was involved in as many goals as FC Bayern. The 1:0 goal from Götze in the final was the 18th Bayern goal. Barcelona (10) and Manchester (9) are ranked second and third.

Only Thomas Müller and Xherdan Shaqiri did score three goals in one game. Include the two former world cups of 2010 and 2006, only one player was able to achieve the same: Gonzalo Higuain in 2010

In all of the 64 games, players from Bayern Munich were voted officially as Man of the Match 11 times. Arjen Robben (3), Thomas Müller, Mario Götze, Xherdan Shaqiri (all 2), Toni Kroos, Mario Mandzukic (1). Next teams are Barcelona (7) and AS Monaco (4)

Thomas Müller was able to repeat his goals/assist from 2010: 5 goals and 3 assists. Only one goal missed to be ranked with the Golden Boot for the second time. 3 of his goals were a 1:0, no other player in the whole world cup did score more first goals. No player run more kilometers than Müller (83,957), next player is Kroos (82,6).

Manuel Neuer played 244 successful passes - two more than Lionel Messi! The argentinian had an success-rate of 68 percent - Neuer 82 percent!

No one played more passes as Philipp Lahm (651) and 86% were successful.

To get this thread started, I would be interested in your view of Bayern's starting formation for the next season. While it is clear, that they won't have a clear starting eleven, you may have a preferred system and players.

Last season, the main systems were 4-1-4-1 and 4-2-3-1. If we take transfers/injuries into account, the systems may look something like this:

4-1-4-1
-------Lewandowski-------
Ribery-Thiago-Müller-Robben
------Schweinsteiger------
Alaba-Dante-Boateng-Lahm
----------Neuer---------

4-2-3-1
------Lewandowski------
Ribery---Müller---Robben
-Schweinsteiger-Martinez-
Alaba-Dante-Boateng-Lahm
----------Neuer---------

Of course there are several things not taken into account: Pep seems to like Lahm in the midfield and he did a tremendous job in the position. Pep also had Thiago quite often in the holding position, as long as he was not injured. It is just impossible to put all players in the starting formation which would deserve a place, there will be a lot of rotation. We had a lot of injuries last season. Bayer sold Kroos and did not buy a replacement yet. They most likely won't because they have enough players. Additionally, the acquisition of Bernat would allow to play Alaba in his natural position: midfield. Pep did do quite some experiments with a back three, in Barcelona as well as with Bayern. We might see that more often. He seems to like Badstubers, who has recovered after two years. Hope he can get back into old form.

Also I always prefer a back four, here is a formation I would love to see in action:

---------Lewandowski------
Ribery-----Müller-----Robben
Alaba--Schweinsteiger--Lahm
Badstuber-Martinez-Boateng
----------Neuer----------

Bench: Thiago, Götze, Shaqiri, Dante, Bernat, Shaqiri, Pizarro, Rode, Höjbjerg, Green

The main advantage is, that all three of the center backs might belong to the best passers at this position. This would just be unbelievable flexible and would allow to interchange every position. You can just overload the midfield with as many players as you like. This side would be perfectly balanced.

What do you guys think about Bayern's formation for next season?

--------lewandowski--------
ribery-----Muller-------robben
Thiago---Schweinsteiger
Alaba----Dante----Boateng---Lahm
--------------Neuer------------

Something like that. Will be interesting to see how pepe uses martinez and gotze , soo many top players to keep happy at bayern but there will be tons of rotation i'm sure. Probably going to be a really different looking lineup to start the season with so many key bayern players playing a part at the world cup so the first month or 2 of the season will be physically tough.

Hehe glad you were able to include it in the first page. Maybe I should put it in the start post ;)

Do you know the interview, where Campino says the following:

"I have to tell you something, which is really difficult to say for me and what I might regret later. You can only handle Bayern as a enemy, if you are non objective. As soon as you investigate the facts, it is getting difficult."

German version:
"Ich erzähle Ihnen jetzt etwas, was mir schwerfällt und ich vielleicht bereuen werde. Man kann mit Bayern München nur ordentlich als Feind umgehen, wenn man unsachlich bleibt. Sobald man sich an Fakten hält, wird es schwierig."

Hmmm.....this might make the Bundesliga thread useless, given that most of the things talked about there are Bayern topics anyways...

Though, good idea given that there are so many threads for other teams and Bayern certainly deserves it's own one.

Maybe I'll create one for Gladbach as well. Would be nice to have my own thread over here...

Bayern Munich is trying to get a foot in the American market and not willing to give to the English teams for free. They have opened their first US office in New York just recently, which tasks include managing FC Bayern’s internationalisation drive in North America, growing the FC Bayern brand, developing networks and acquiring new co-operation partners.

This and the combination with the new TV contract for the US should make the Bundesliga a bit more easy to access and more popular.

Hope you guys can see them play, as they will come more often to the US.

Wouldn't surprise me if he Guardiola goes all out on a 3-4-2-1 like he did in the cup final. Even if he is playing a 4-1-4-1 it's more like a 2-4-4-1 sometimes, as the FBs are very attacking and play more in the middle of the pitch than usual.

Lolol. Luckily I'll never see Annika again.

I hate clubs not players. I respect Neur's game way too much to hate him. Not an exact comparison but I don't hate Magic for similar reasons as a Cs fan.

I honestly don't see how one couldn't respect Neur after the past three years. Maybe "like" was a poor choice of word?
