Close, a quarter Welsh from my grandfather. I will be ecstatic if both teams make it through to the knockouts.

I haven't seen enough of Russia or Slovakia lately to know if either team are a threat to England or Wales getting into the knockout stage, but I will never underestimate England's ability to choke in the big tournaments. Wales meanwhile don't have the same kind of pressure, it's their first major tournament in forever and will probably play the same level of football they did in the qualifiers.

Russia is gonna get embarrassed again, the talent level is just way too low. As a russian I felt embarrassed that everyone blamed Capello for the team's impotency...

If England don't get to at least the quarter finals Hodgson needs to be binned.

Probably does even if we do make it.

You have to win on Saturday. Pretty sure England havent won their opening game the last 3 times a major tournament. It's important to set the tone from the beginning.

The last tournament England performed well in was in 02' when you beat Argentina in the first game after a Beckham pen.

Shocking news that England fans have been involved in fights in Marseille and got teargassed by the police. Not entirely sure who started it but still, some say Marseille 'ultras' were involved and provoked them.

Some reports in English newspapers claim several England fans were heard chanting: "Isis, where are you?". The city of Marseille has a large Muslim population.

english fans should be banned from drinking when they go to other countries.

england has a clear path here, none of the other teams are impressive. then they play a third place team if they get first place.

English fans are so much fun. When they are alone, they are so quiet. When they are with their group and alchocol involves, they become a lion all of a sudden :) they got beaten up pretty much by everybody who we can consider brave fans such as Italians, Turks, Serbs etc. but since some fans are very easy going like germans and spaniards, they show off a lot in those countries.

Also, i dont understand whats the point to drink that much that you lose control as a man.

Couldn't agree more. You will always see these "men", who are so drunk that they aren't even able to talk anymore, in football stadiums. It's absolutely embarrassing.

English people are weak when it comes to drinking. Tbh most Western people are. But English people especially. They get drunk and rowdy after a couple of pints.

Why is it always us?

In the Prem now it's perhaps too sanitised and yet we get abroad with some drinks in us and....

They are weak. but it's not a couple of pints.

Let's face it. Alcohol is a drug. It is a dangerous drug to the people who drink but unlike many other drugs it's exceptionally dangerous to everyone else too. It should be banned. And that's not just on matchdays for football supporters, but instead of this it is romanticised and promoted through film and TV.

However governments are not strong enough to ban it and would rather pander to the lobbyists (as with Petrol and cars...)

Still if the worst violence this euros is from that Marseille street scene we've got away lightly. Sadly I don't think it will be.

looking forward to both these games today.

Think they'll be really interesting.

Hope Andy King gets on for Wales and Vardy scores the winner for England.

And there are no alcohol related deaths in your country? Or alcohol related violence? or alcohol related home problems etc...?
