Yeah, Di Maria fits the profile. He's proving unpopular in Paris and with back-to-back failures in European football it wouldn't surprise me to see him taking the money and running off to China with his tail between his legs.

I don't think the European leagues are too worried, in all honesty. It's an easier way to make huge money off of semi-decent players without selling them to rival clubs. Not to mention, the Belgian team Gent just thrashed a Chinese Super League team 11-0 in a friendly. Hard to see anyone but mercenaries flocking to that mess.

The biggest issue is further inflation of player prices, as if the Premier League hadn't messed that up enough already!

Yeah, that's an underrated point. Also that the wages will be even bigger than they are now. So it's not true when people say they wont have a impact on European football.

I'm not sure though that a cap on spending or/and wages is the solution. We live in a free market. People also forget how much these major leagues generate in economic revenue. Premier League is something like £1bn. Why would you cut that?

Meh....as long as they can't produce any decent players I don't see how they can challenge Europe.
As you can see most of the big names that went to China are non-Europeans. They would have a hard time convincing an European player to go on another continent while not being past his prime.
If Europe keeps its high production of top level talent there is nothing they could do.

p.s Anyways no matter how good it eventually gets I will probably never watch a CSL game in my life. :noway:

Apparently, Diego Costa got a huge deal from China and actually considered moving this winter transfer window....

CHina will definitely be able to steal a lot of talent from South America, especially, the Brazilians.

20 or 30 massive signings will not make this league any more interesting.

It needs to build from the bottom by investing in great youth coaching.

The more players that go to China, the better. Anything that helps bring English football back to being English football is a positive for me. Couldn't care less how many people go off to China. The Chinese Super League will be a big deal someday and I have no issue with players going over there. I sure as hell would for that amount of money. People criticize by saying "no one cares about football in China," but I doubt that's the perception CSL players get when they move there. The state of Chinese football was dire before this investment, so it's good to see. Hopefully China's homegrown talent starts to thrive.

Let's see if India ever puts together a real league rather than that weird soccer version of the IPL.

Hopefully Toronto FC isn't interested in what would likely be a massive transfer fee.
