Gareth Southgate is Brendan Rodgers in disguise.

We all know that Kane is going to be the striker no matter who the opposition are. we know that Mount and foden will be the midfield and we know that the Defence will be the same tired players no matter what form any of the players are in. It doesn't surprise me that we didn't score and lost.

Southgate should never have been manager he's wasted a great crop of England players. Still kane can get a few more empty records and no trophies and the big 6 can have more caps and push the prices of their internationals up. Sadly it means players like Maddison will follow Phillips from the other 14 to the big 6 in the hope of getting capped whilst not playing for their clubs.

Sad state of affairs.

I agree about being sick of Southgate. What bothers me is that he gets zero criticism from the press. Past England managers used to get hounded by the media constantly, to the point where their jobs became impossible, and yet the football was still better than this. He's a spineless FA yes man with so many mates in the press that the absolutely terrible job he's doing is buried, and a lot of people go along with it because we limped to two good tournament finishes.

Not sure why you've singled out Kane and Foden though, they're two players in good form that absolutely should be playing. Along with Sterling they've scored more goals than the rest of the squad combined this season. Even if we play Abraham up top, Toney, whoever else, we're still going to have no semblance of attack or goal threat because we play 5 at the back and don't have a midfield. Mount, Maguire and Shaw are the puzzling ones. Bowen should also be nowhere near the England setup.

Also, Kane would have an international trophy, along with the rest of the England squad, if Gareth Southgate wasn't an absolute waistcoat wearing Waitrose soft boy and knew how to manage a football match. Whoever plays from whatever clubs, we are going to be **** as long as we have this manager, but I agree that it doesn't help when he keeps playing favourites with out of form players.

Can we really extrapolate NL results with what will happen in the WC?

For instance, France is doing poorly. Would they still not be a WC favorite?

Good comeback by England. Actually, they haven't played too badly today, aside from that human fridge Harry Maguire.

I am actually watching less Nations League games than I watched NT friendly games before they announced Nations League.

Just can't be bothered. Didn't watch any.

And hoped for no injuries - Cags, N'didi, Daka apparent injuries.
