Since Argentina won and we are now talking food, I am just gonna drop this right here:

Image

I love all of it, including the non-American stuff- mollejas (sweetbread), morcilla (blood sausage), and all the other bits. I wanted to go to the Latin market after the game to pick some stuff up for the grill, but got shamed by my college daughter majoring in environmental science about impact of cattle industry. (I actually agree with her, but will do the BBQ later.)

And some provoleta(grilled provolone) for appetizer:

I am very much an IPA guy now, but will wash it all down with a couple of these:

Yeah, Argentinians are next level when it comes to barbecue. Texans think they are hot sh*t in that regard, and if you like brisket I suppose they are. (Not a huge fan.) But I was fortunate to go to an Argentinian couples' house way back when for a barbecue when I was living in San Antonio, and it wasn't even a comparison. I'd eat that every week if I could.

Who doesn't love a BBQ?

Brazil's most famous one is the picanha, either with butter or with garlic:

Along with an amazing garlic bread...

The wonders of brazilian BBQ...

Go to a "Fogo de Chão" near you... you won't be disappointed.

In the south of Brazil (and I suppose on Argentina too, they are near each other) they do in a different way:

Can vouch for Fogo de Chão. Another meal I almost ate myself sick. They just kept bringing meat to the table and I couldn't stop.

I love a good choripan with chimichurri doused on it.

No issue with Argentina winning - no horse in that finals. But not too impressed with the humility (or lack of) from that the goalkeeper in the aftermath. Mbappe clearly had his measure - got past his 4 times in the finals- and yet his trolling with the doll with mbappe’s face and the RIP speech is pretty garbage tbh

Instead of being a prick, take the win and savour the moment

Forwards: Messi, J Alvarez, Mbappe

Midfielders: Bruno Fernandes, Saka, Griezmann

Defenders: Gvardiol, Hakimi, Saiss, Hernandez

Goalkeeper: Livakovic

It was tough to leave out Modric and Amrabat

I would agree with most of that team but i personally think Enzo Fernandez who was anchor for of Argentina must be there, Amrabat too. Ambrabat run most, top in tackles, passed the ball in high numbers without him Marocco had no chance to reach semifinals. They didnt win games because of Hakimi, Ziyach offensive brilliance.
This would be my team:

Forwards: Mbappe, J Alvarez, Messi

Midfielders: Enzo Fernandes,Amrabat, Griezmann

Defenders: J.Ito, Gvardiol, Saiss, Hakimi

Goalkeeper: E.Martinez

Players who could have been in best eleven: Modric, Saka,Duan,Gakpo,Bellingham,Livakovic.

Martinez was the most of impressive of all goalkeepers, he won them the final, quarterfinal.

Everyone lauds the football culture in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, etc.

But it's almost like young men in these countries see it as the only way to improve their socioeconomic status. Maybe more so in Argentina, which has had repeated economic troubles for decades, than Brazil.

What percentage of them who take up the sport make it to top Euro leagues? I would imagine it's about as low as the percentage of people who take up basketball making it to the NBA?

Or even make it to the domestic leagues and have a long career, making money playing the sport?

Looking at opening in Toronto in 2023. Wicked.
Took my barbarian 9 year old to her first Brazilian BBQ for her latest bday and she loved it.
