after beating Juve last weekend, Sassuolo also hand Inter their first L as well. Berardi is on fire.

Milan clubs now level on points at the top of the table.

Roma in shambles after getting womped by Genoa 4-1 yesterday :o only 5 points in their first 6 matches... and Dybala/Lukaku played the whole match, but Roma definitely suffered without Smalling who was out injured.
Impressive performance from former Roma man Kevin Strootman. Was great to see him dominate after injuries ruined what could've been a great career. Retegui looking good too...the Azzurri need him to start at striker over Immobile's bum ass.

3rd place Juve vs 4th place Atalanta on Sunday.

Roma recover, Pulisic is a fan favorite in Milan, Lautaro comes off the bench and scores 4.

meanwhile, Juve scrape out a lucky point in Bergamo and are once again unwatchable. I sat through a year in Serie B with them but this may be the worst...i can't take it anymore...

Peak Serie A at the end of the Milan game.
It's time for 5 refs.

What a finish in the Milan game and it put them top of the table going into the break

Hilarious conclusion to the game with Giroud making that save.

Italian football may be about to undergo another scandal, with last year's young player of the season Fagioli admitting to gambling violations at the beginning of the week. Since then, EPL stars Tonali and Zaniolo have had to leave the national team as they are also under investigation.

Gossip columnist Fabrizio Corona and renowned scum bag is the one releasing these names publicly, and henceforth altering how these investigations are being conducted.
He is vowing to release another name each day, with Roma youngster Zalewski being name dropped today. We'll see who he names tomorrow. Azzurri fans hope it won't be any more of the players in the national squad, but who knows.
It is worth noting that Corona himself has been sentenced to imprisonment multiple times, famously for extortion and blackmail against many famous people, including footballers David Trezeguet, Alberto Gilardino, Adriano, and Totti.

Corona claims Zaniolo had bet on a Roma match while on the squad but injured. Him and Tonali admitted to gambling on illegal sites, but only blackjack and poker. Zalewski has outright denied any wrongdoing.

This is an aside, but you were bang on about Destiny Udogie. He's the truth and still only 20, what a player.

Love to hear it. Italian press gave him the highest rating yesterday out of Italy players vs England, in just his first international start. Was worried things would be tough for him when Conte left, but quite the contrary.
Have only seen a few spurs games so far, how are the fans liking Vicario?

also, this isn't the right thread for it, but...Bellingham...what a player. I'm not usually one to hype young players up but for me he's now undoubtedly the best CM in the world. Gonna go ahead and say best CM that England has ever had--at least in my lifetime--due to how complete he is. The exact player they've been missing to win an international trophy.

Vicario has been really solid. Better than I expected, actually. No complaints so far. Enjoying the Italian players that Paratici has helped us sign.

Back in the day, during the Sven and Capello years at England, the team's handling of Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard was widely criticised as one or more of them was always played out of position. Now we have all of them in one player with Bellingham. An absolute dynamo, one of the most enjoyable players to watch.

Inter 22
Milan 21
Juve 20
Fiorentina 17 (game in hand)
Napoli 17
Atalanta 16
Roma 14
Bologna 14
Lazio 13

The scudetto race heats up with Juve beating Milan 1-0 in Milan. Needless to say, the first half red card to Milan CB Thiaw, prompting Pioli to sub off Pulisic, wildly affected the game. Juve scored off a Locatelli shot from deep--ironically 7 years exactly from the day he scored the game winner with an amazing shot for Milan vs Buffon--that took a huge deflection.

Fiorentina with a chance to be level on points with Juve if they get a win tonight vs Empoli. Vincenzo Italiano has been doing an excellent job with them. Expect him to be at a bigger club in the next season or two.

We're under five hours away from Juve-Inter... with Inter two points ahead of Juve in first place.

Several Juve center mids are out injured (or banned), so young Hans Nicolussi Caviglia is getting his first ever start in a derby match after having played only a few minutes all season.
Meanwhile, Inter will be without Bastoni and Pavard.

Juve finally regain the Chiesa-Vlahovic pairing up top, while Lautaro and Thuram look to continue to dominate for Inter.

The first goal will be ever important. Inter are surely the better team but Juve know how to defend and turn any into an unwatchable nightmare.

After drawing 1-1 with Juve, Inter beat Napoli 3-0 (with plenty of assistance from the refs)

Juve-Napoli Friday

Inter are above and beyond everyone else, but the longer they stay in Champions League, the more likely they are to drop points eventually.

Juve with luck on their side beat Napoli 1-0,

Inter are just too good and win 4-0 vs Udinese.

Milan lose a thriller to Atalanta.

Lukaku slid into a tackle like a maniac with Roma already down to 10 men and got himself ejected, but Roma still managed a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.

Thiago Motta's Bologna seem serious about challenging for top 4. Joshua Zirkzee is a helluva player.

Inter 38
Juve 36
Milan 29
Roma 25
Bologna 25
Napoli 24
Fiorentina 24
Atalanta 23
Monza 21
Lazio 21

It's time for 5 refs.

Former Bayern Munich product Joshua Zirkzee at only 22 years of age has been special, with seven goals and a couple assists.
Lewis Ferguson, who has been a part of Scotland's great euro qualifying campaign, has been shining as well... along with Remo Freuler in the midfield.
Most of the credit has to go to Thiago Motta--who in his short coaching career has gotten fired in his first year from Genoa, helped Spezia avoid relegation, and now is doing very well in his 2nd season at Bologna. Even their 9th place finish last year was a solid accomplishment considering the 8 teams they finished behind.
One has to expect Napoli to recover and finish 4th, but Bologna may very well be in the Europa League next season.

Genoa is 15mins from getting a draw vs Inter.

which would b great for Juvenuts.
if they can get a W vs Roma,
theyd cut down Inters lead to 2p

Genoa indeed get the draw and Juve win vs Roma

Interestingly, Juve and Inter have both lost to Sassuolo and tied vs Bologna and Genoa. Juve’s draw vs Atalanta is the only difference between the two teams results this season

Inter get two huge gifts from the officials, and then Verona player misses a pk in the last minute of stoppage time...

Juve actually look good lately. totally different from the first few months this season.

New Napoli player Mazzocchi gets a red card for a horrific tackle after being subbed in for his first game, and Napoli lose 3-0 to Torino. The defending champs drop down to 9th place.
The Conte to Napoli rumors heat up, and honestly, they need him. However, after a season at Napoli it is easy to predict that him and De Laurentis will become enemies because Conte will demand more activity on the transfer market and it won't happen.

Mou has been sacked. I'm curious how people who watch this league judge the situation. It seems like this time he's sacked mostly for pure on-field bad form the past few weeks, but his contract was due to expire in the summer and the biz analyst in me suspects Roma like Tottenham cut him off very early after deciding not to renew to avoid the risk of retaliation or sabotage (though I think he's curbed those tendencies during his tenure at both clubs).
