Awesome, hope he doesn't get overlooked for an all defensive team like Marion was when he finished something like 5th.

He shouldn't if he's the top ranked defensive SF.

That's awesome...some recognition for a crafty vet who basically took it upon himself to become our defensive go to guy

Kudos...

Didnt he hold his man to something like 39% fg?

He even got a first place vote! Looking at past winners of DPOY I didn't realize that the award is really always given to a big man. Only Artest in 03-04 and Gary Payton in 95-96 have won it in the past 20 years

If he was playing for the C's or the Bulls, he'd definitely be much higher up. His defense doesn't get league-wide recognition because he's on a crappy defensive team like the Suns. It's a shame really.

Yeah but the fact is, it's rare for a wing defender to have the same defensive presence or culture changing defense as a defensive big man. Much easier to have an anchor at the 4 or 5 spot than on the wings.

What's the bet that, even though Tony Allen finished 4th and Hill finished 7th (highest rated wings), Kobe and LeBron still get voted all defensive first team...

How has nobody mentioned KEITH BOGANS got a vote for Def Player of the Year?! Not just a vote, but a FIRST vote. So somebody legitimately thinks Keith Bogans is the BEST defensive player in the NBA? they need their voting rights stripped

Steve Nash is the best defensive player in the NBA.

Defensive stopper on the best defensive team? ... Nah, clutching at straws, can't help you mate. Not even sportswriters are that (Please Use More Appropriate Word).. Right? ;)

Maybe Mrs Bogans works for the Tribune..

In my opinion, Garnett's defensive impact has become increasingly overrated. I think Duncan plays D better currently, and he's almost all the way down the list.

Congrats Grant. An amazing acheivement for someone who's turning 39!

You can't blame Mrs Bogans for voting for her kid

If the Suns made the playoffs with a top 6 seed he'd probably be top 3 for sure.

Haha, I've even heard Bulls fans say Bogans is the worst starting SG in the NBA. I totally don't get it, especially because I wouldn't even pick him as the best defensive wing out of that team! Brewer is definitely better in that regard.

 Great to see Gortat and Hill take a stand defensively this season. How can you not love a team that has Nash/Dudley/Gortat/Hill/Frye on it??
