Re: Official Offseason Thread 2.0
You don't trade Williams for nash - that defeats the purpose of dealing for Williams
Now, if the Twolves want Dudley and Lopez - you answer the call
If the Twolves want Frye and the 13th pick- you answer the call
I don't think the Twolves will make this trade but the Twolves have enough young forwards - they do need experience. I think Lopez and the 13th pick is the basis - its just whether the Suns part with the JYD to get this thing done
As for Johnny Flynn and Randolph for Nash -- umm, never.

And no chance Memphis does either.... Come on Kerrsed... Lowpez ? The same big man who had back surgery and lost 1/3 of his vertical jump... ? The same Lowpez who went from 20-25 minutes per game to a forced 10-15 in a pseudo starting role ?
Lowpez is fodder at the best... one on one trading will only yield a player who is equally disappointing to his team. We cant expect 2010 value for him, until he proves otherwise.
Nuts on that Denver deal too.
Furthermore, I dont see how Lopez would have any benefit in Minny right now.... they have Darko, Peko, and Tolliver... all more preferable to 'The AnchorMan' .
Nope... I think the wolves are fishing for Nash and Gortat.
If Kahn could pull that off w/o giving up Love and Beasley,(his rumored intention) they would be doing cartwheels up there.
Add a SG like JR Smith on the MLE... what

Nash, Smith, Beasley, Love, Gortat... with Rubio, Ridnour, Milicic, Tolliver, ARand, Webster, etc on the bench.... Thats a 'take notice' ball club... and really, a better squad than what we could field. What if they could convince Hill to go too ? Holy smokes.
They'd be howling. Their arena would be packed and rowdy. I can see the benefit even if Nash is a rental. It instantly recharges their fan base giving them relevancy. They'd still have a slight chance Nash stays... or certainly a decent one to sign and trade him (bird rights ?) I believe some people may be overlooking Nash's future value as a trade piece. May be wrong though.... where's my un-assembled grill?
I have to think a Brooks deal has already been struck. Or at least 'like' to think.
What ? Me Worry ?

Re: Official Offseason Thread 2.0
Hey guys, this whole T Wolves trade partner isnt going to work. Unless they have some hard on for Frye, and or Peitrus, and or Lopez, this isnt going to work. If we give them Nash, there is no way we can get fair value in return, because no one values him more than us. Getting another tiny Pg. back compleetly goes against the new defensive movement and i really dont want 2 tiny ass pgs. on the team in Brooks and Flynn. If the deal surrounds Gortat, what the hell can they give us back that will then fill the new and before him old gaping hole at C. ? They have been very smart about thier trades lately and surely arent giving up Rubio, Beasly, or Love. I really doubt the #2 pick is even in play here and if so it would mean us giving up Gortat or Nash and probably our 13 pick. If it did involve the pick, we arent going to get the #2 and a good player, thats too much for them, so its something like Gortat or Nash for the #2, thats it!! Khan is playing chess, and our front office is playing checkers, we will lose on this one. Forget about Minny!!

Re: Official Offseason Thread 2.0
Really hard to trade with Minny due to salaries and players - which sounds stupid, I know. What I mean by that is whatever we send them that they want weakens us tremendously and vice versa, and they have so many cheapo salaries it's hard to get what everyone wants/needs and have the money match up
And - if you do sent them Nash and get Love back, if he's saying he won't resign there - you run the risk of being exactly the same team we are now, 40-45 wins, 1st round exit maybe or meh lottery pick.
Or Nash and Gortat and 13 for Flynn, Pekovich and Beasley, 2 and 20 - wolves get a big man and a mentor for Rubio who is stil a highly efficient PG and the two of them will put fans in seats. They take a PF with the 13 beucse we want Beasley and the 2, which is going to be Williams. So they get hind tit
But what else works? Not much
Minny is ahead in some regards and we can deal the #2 or take Williams, use the 13 for Biyombo or Tyler or Singleton or Markieff/Marcus ... or Burks if avail ... and the 20 for Reggie Jackson or DMorris
Deal Brooks ....
but Sweet Yeshua bar Yosef, what a can of worms. You'd have burning effigies outside the arena in PHX and the execs woudl need to travel under armed guard
But if anyone is up for a deal it's kahn, and maybe us
lastly - how does the trading of picks work - is the guaranteed salary just added in?

If something happens and we can get the #2 and #20 (preferably without having to give up #13)
I would either trade with Cavs (for #4 and Hickson or #4 and #8 if they can pull the deal with Pistons) or take D Williams (preferably I'd rather deal for either Cavs trades)
If we take Williams, then at #13 take either Fredette or Biyombo (one has to be there)
At #20 (if we take Fredette) we go after a big........Tyler (1st choice) or Singleton (2nd choice)
At #20 (if we take Biyombo) we go after a PG.........Shumpert (1st choice) or R Jackson (2nd choice)

Re: Official Offseason Thread 2.0
To show interest in Flynn diminishes the value of Brooks (to us) and thus any leverage/bluff/intention we may have in retaining him. Or may be it causes low ball offers to Aaron ?
This is a confusing rumor, but perhaps part of a bigger plan where a Brooks deal is contingent on acquiring Flynn ?
I doubt Minny would deal Beasley and #2... essentially, Williams and Beasley are redundant... But put Nash and Gortat on Minny and they become instantly entertaining and likely the hottest ticket in town. Tv games, season tickets, merchandise... toss in Rubio and its crazy up there. And if they start winning? Sheesh, Kahn will look wrath-ish. Especially if it helps keep Love in town. Winning does a lot for attitudes.
For that they have to give up value as just the opposite happens to us. The #2, Flynn, and ??? No sir, the over all impact says pony up our choice of Bigs (sans Love) and another pick somewhere..... and we shouldnt have to give #13. Or is it just Love and Flynn, no pick?
This is a genius marketing move by Kahn, and it will not dilute his talent base even if Nash is one and done. They already have too many young bigs... I do not look for this rumor to die, unless it mushrooms into reality and Babby flat out has to deny it to soothe Nash. Make this deal, and it is surly the first of a couple for us..
Think of it... If we were to get a future 1st from Minny, then trade #2 for #4 and another future 1st from Cleveland.... we could walk with #4, 2 future 1sts, and a couple of decent players for Nash and theGortat. Not a bad way to begin a rebuild. Sad but not bad. Feasible or fantasy ?
Something is cooking in Babby-land. Is it a full course meal... or just a'la carte ?

I dont want to part with Gortat, but with Nash... Wolves will be a playoff team so its not that bad for Nash and Gortat they wont be against the trade, especially if they have talented team mates that they both can be leaders of.
Suns instant rebuild.. and have ASSETS just in case Hornets or another team gets desperate to trade their stars... and if not... Suns just keep them and build a new core ready in 2-3 seasons time.
You can't trade this year's pick and next years, it has to be every other year.
If the Suns did that trade, the front office would get torn a new butthole. We'd be worst than the Timberwolves were last year.

That's probably true. But I would think a trade would happen before the draft, or as the draft is taking place, lol.

From DraftExpress:
Timbervolwes don't have their 2012 1st round pick, but they can trade their #2 this year because they also have #20.
Minnesota trades a first round pick (top-10 protected in 2011, unprotected in 2012) to Los Angeles as part of the Sam Cassell/Marko Jaric trade. Pick could be sent to Boston via Oklahoma City via Los Angeles as part of the Kendrick Perkins/Jeff Green trade via the Eric Bledsoe trade.

Suns get-
Jonny Flynn
Anthony Tolliver
Andre Miller
No. 2 Pick
Wolves get-
Steve Nash
Robin Lopez
Rudy Fernandez
Nash/Johnson/Beasley/Love/Milicic
Rubio/Fernandez/Webster/Randolph/Lopez
Milicic didn't play too bad last season, he averaged 9, 5, and 2 in only 24 minutes per game. I can only imagine his stats going up when playing next to Nash. They get rid of Pekovic's contract, and have a really deep bench.
Blazers get-
Aaron Brooks
Nikola Pekovic
No. 20
Brooks/Roy/Wallace/Aldridge/Camby
???/Mathews/Batum/???/Oden
The Blazers have two late first and they could try and package them to go higher in the draft or just draft a backup PG and backup PF.

But they surely want to give it up this year, no? Unprotected next year - then agin, is it likely to be better than 2 this year?
Sounds liek they're doing the latter though - no mention of letting the Clips have the 2 this year, which is the actual Minny pick, right? The 20 came in a deal, did it not?
Memphis via Utah - which means the 2 pick is Minny's own, and they're using it this year. So the Clips get an unprotected first from the Wolves next year - which could be scary for the rest of us if they still stink

Re: Official Offseason Thread 2.0
The only way Minny gives up #2 is for Nash + Gortat
So it would be something like Nash/Gortat for #2/#20/Flynn/Beasley/filler
That would give us 3 first round picks... I would take Kanter, Tyler to build our frontcourt of the future and then #20 on a wing or ssomething.
That's a helluva lot of proven talent to give up for unproven talent. I wouldn't have the stones to make that trade.

Gortat #13 for Flynn, #2, #20
Why make up such huge trades that won't happen anyway. Try to keep it simple.
I don't like Flynn though........
Would rather keep #13 , dont take back Flynn.

Nash, Lopez, Top 8 protected 1st for Love and 20?
Package 20 and 13 to move up to grab Kemba?
Kemba/Dudley/Hill/Love/Gortat
Instantly transform into a young ass team with tons of potential.
Dunno if Minnesota would go for it, but if they're convinced Love won't resign, then they should.

Re: Official Offseason Thread 2.0
I think the whole point of them trying to get Nash is so they can make the playoffs. Trading away Love for Nash doesn't make sense. With Nash/Love/Gortat they are a playoff team for sure even though they would be risking their entire future if Love ended up leaving (which you're right he probably will). They don't have their pick next year so trying to contending makes sense.
