Duds will be incredibly valuable to this team in +/- and will likely be the only vet who will play major minutes even if we punt the season midway.

“It’s very similar,” Dudley said of his lineup shifts. “We were playing worse than we were at the time in Milwaukee. For us, it’s more about what are we going to do with the second unit to try to get them going. I thought the starters played well over the course of our time, if you look at our plus-minus. But overall, it doesn’t matter if one unit plays well or not. It’s the team.

“Hopefully, this is something we can use as a spark plug.”

“Obviously, the plan all along was to bring Marquese along and him going in there,” Dudley said. “We’re speeding up that process. That’s what happens when you get some losses and things change. This might not be the last lineup change we have. You hope not. Hopefully, it gets Marquese going a little bit and hopefully I can help the second unit and get some shots for some guys.”

“The second-unit was suffering, especially we need to get B-Knight going, and he’s such a huge part of us,” Dudley said.

Knight went from shooting 30.1 percent in his first six games as a reserve to making 10 of 19 shots (52.6 percent) in the past two games since the change.

“He (Dudley) gets guys going, hits big shots,” Watson said. “He is constant motion so we like the momentum he brings and it settles that second group."

“Earl just keeps telling me to be ready, play my role, be true to myself and who I am,” Chriss said. “I don’t have to go out there and try to do a bunch of crossovers. Just try to do the dirty work and hustle. When Tyson’s in there, he knows what he’s supposed to do. He gets in there, rebounds, gets putbacks, block shots and runs the floor really well. I just try to look at him and do the things he does, him and Jared. Find the in-between for myself. I have no problem setting screens, rolling, getting tip-ins. That’s what I’m here for.”

Watson said he is not afraid to see the young players succeed or fail.

The Suns felt the same way when they pressed ahead in November 2002 with starting a rookie power forward, Amar'e Stoudemire, who had just turned 20.

“You hope that a young player takes the leap and learns it,” Dudley said. “A lot of it is the game slowing down for him. Everything is so fast and frantic. You want him to get confidence. He’s been an aggressive rookie. He doesn’t back down. He has all the tools and I’m still going to be helping him out. Hopefully, this speeds up the process like it did for (Devin) Booker.”

I thought Knight looked better with Dudley off the bench with him, I mentioned it would likely help Knight before it happened. Knight needs veteran players around him and not rookies. Not to say Bender shouldn't play with him, because Bender looks like a veteran on defense.
Hoping Dudley can continue his hot streak, even if he cools down I would expect maybe 8-12 points off the bench from him. Chriss is getting it together slowly as a starter though I'd like to see what Bender can do starting at the 4.

Dudley was actually quoted as saying that part of the reason he's okay with coming off the bench is to help get Knight going.

Dudley and Knight have a prior special bond/friendship from their time together with the Bucks.

Dudley is a solid player. He makes winning plays all the time when he is on the court.

Obviously he is a limited player on both sides, but he is good enough as a player to be on the roster next season and play minutes if needed, and his voice is respected for the youngsters.

I do not want to trade him.
