The Nashty - Suns MVP Award 2017-18

Post#1 » by batsmasher » Mon Oct 24, 2016 10:16 am

After each Suns game, an MVP thread will be opened for you to vote for your top 3 players. These threads can be created by anyone, as long as there isn't currently a thread for that game.

Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

Keep up to date with the season standings here.

That was about the only name I could think of. I was thinking it was fitting that a 2-time MVP gets the award named after him.

:peace: keep em coming! Hopefully when the Americans awake we'll get a few more names in the hat.

Then we'll take it to a poll.

Good idea. I'll give my votes based on the eye test just after the game.

Can we also vote for the worst player in the game? They can win the "Cactus of the year" award.

Might as well call it the Devin Booker award because you know he'll be winning this.

Can't u just create a thread with a poll were people can vote again after a each game?

Have a feeling that 82 threads asking for votes will mess the forums a bit too much

It doesn't work as well when you have people voting for top 3 in order, and although you could just take top 3 vote getters, the resulst would likely not be the same. We would also lose history we had for previous votes. It will be interesting to look back at previous seasons later to see who the MVP, and perhaps the runner up and third place people were, and the tracking throughout the season will look much like this...

I'll keep thinking. Suns have had two MVPs so it could be the Barkley Nash Award or Nash Barkley Award.

I didn't like the two name idea if you ask me. It sounds weird. I think if anyone deserves to be named on this kind of award, it is Nash.

The Phoenix Suns Gorilla of the Year. Who was the Gorilla of the game? With different images each game..he played like he was on a mission tonight!

He showed up with his game face on, and was the vet leader we needed tonight!

Yes, I agree that one name is better than two...just throwing out another idea. I almost want to move on from Nash and get onto this new era though so a good original name would be nice if we can think of one.

I think we will leave Cactus voting to losses only. So in wins you can give a 3-2-1 and in losses you can give a 3-2-1 as well as a (-3)-(-2)-(-1).

Any last minute name suggestions before I set up the poll?

The "Nashty" is good.
