The 2023/2024 Glimmer of Hope Thread

Post#1 » by enigmatics » Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:35 pm

Figured we need a thread like this right now to possibly save some hairlines and talk ourselves out of self-deletion over what we've seen transpire in the first 1/3rd of the year.

On my mind right now:

- Getting Beal back

Self-explanatory. While he might not be a true PG something in this organization's psyche collapsed when he went down again with the ankle injury. so it's obvious how important he is to this team's future as it is constructed now.

- Azubuike getting more minutes

This man looks like a good change of pace center that can beat some people up in limited minutes with lobs/dunks. A little bit stiff, but seems like he can physically handle most guys on the block when on defense

- Metu continuing to find his role

I'll preface this by saying I wanted to throat punch him on that turnover in the Mavs game where Booker called him out for not running back on defense - but offensively he's heating up and deserves more opportunity to contribute.

As I see it, if Beal can come back and play at a high level then they just need to figure out who the trusted 8th guy on the roster is gonna be.

My glimmer of hope is that we blow this up while Booker and KD still have enough value to bring back some of what we lost in assets. Otherwise it's going to be the 2010's all over again. We are 100% screwed assets wise and heading into the future.

The Suns are way too pot committed to blow this up. Have to ride it out and hope Beal becomes the Beal of old which makes everyone else pick up their play. Seems unlikely but a better option than trading assets for pennies on the dollar.

Suns need to trade 2 for 1 and get a PG. Someone who can handle the ball and run an offense.

PG's to trade for????

Tyus Jones
McConnell
Brogdon

What would it take to get one of these guys?

I don't see how it gets done without Allen.

Given that he's an FA next year what were the odds they were gonna keep him anyways? Btw I'd stay far far away from Brogdon.

I like Allen, but you need a Tyus Jones or a McConnell with this group or event a Caruso

My optimism has waned significantly and finding hope in anything is damned hard. US trading away Allen or Little would be the stupidest things we could do and would absolutely torpedo any hope this team has left.

We've made our bed. Now we need to lie in it. I just hope the house doesn't burn down in the process.

We have a window now, and assets now. You build a team to do damage in the playoffs.

Find the right pieces and fit them. I think suns need someone who can run an offense, and be a true PG.

The only hope I see for this team is for the next season if we get rid of Beal, Durant and at least 7-8 of the random pedestrians on the roster and distribute the money roughly equally to get players who are actually playable in a NBA game.

Trying to look for reasons to be optimistic but the recent string of losses is extremely concerning. The good news is, I don’t think it’s talent like others here seem to think. But that’s also the bad news, this team has lost confidence and / or will.

The only hope I see is Beal gets back and this team starts to string together a couple easy wins without burning out KD and Booker so much, and gets that mojo back.

I actually think the season started off well considering the injuries, people here had unrealistic expectations considering the injuries. But there was effort then. Now there isn’t.
