Isaiah Thomas returns to PHX

Post#1 » by SkyBill40 » Sun Mar 17, 2024 12:45 am

Looks like we're getting a short term second helping of one of the more interesting players in our history, this time on a 10 day contract. Will he be able to help us out?

One thing is for certain: He's an experienced point guard.

IDGAF if he does nothing for us (have no expectation) but I love the guy and I'm glad he's getting another opportunity to ball in the NBA again. Boston did him dirty

Kept saying that our emergency pg had to be better than Saban Lee, technically Thomas is. Can Saban go yo the g league and ever average 30+ a game for any stretch? No need to answer that!

We all know he can score and is a decent distributor. He could be just what we need as the leader of the second unit so long as he's truly recovered and healthy. Given his desire on making it back to the NBA, and the strong showings he had in other runs, we could be in a really nice spot going into the playoffs.

Sarver and McDonough are what spoiled that relationship; Ishbia could help mend it. We'll see soon enough.

Vogel finally found the guy to anchor his defense.

Good signing.

He fits the position of need and he has experience and skills that could help us on certain situations in the playoffs.

We need to find ways to score more than 15 points in the 4th quarter. That is probably our biggest issue, not our defense.

Have my doubts that this will work but quite frankly any change is welcomed from what we are currently seeing.

If he can be somewhat decent then I'm gonna have to have a serious talk with my doc, I have the same hip issue and I'm definitely washed and cooked

IT was a liability on D even when he was in his prime what makes Ishbia think Isaiah isn't going to get absolutely torched when at 35 and coming off major injuries he's going to be a lot slower and less explosive?

This move doesn't make any sense unless Mat just wants to honor Isaiah but it's not really what we need right now.

Hated watching him play in 2015. In 2024… :noway:

Seems just like another fan service move that won’t make any real difference.

If it's just for fan service and give IT his due then I'm ok with it but if it's because Ishbia thinks Isaiah has anything left in the tank he's a bigger fool than I thought.

EXCELLENT SIGNING!!! I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HE DOES FOR US IN THE PLAYOFFS. HE CAN CHANGE THE ENTIRE DYNAMIC OF THIS TEAM AND FOR THAT I APPLAUD MATT ISHBIA FOR GIVING ISHIAH THOMAS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO SHINE. LETS GO SUNS BABY!!!

I mean...Ishbia just signed ISAIAH THOMAS. You can't make this stuff up. I'm pretty sure he thinks they're related or something.

"Excited for him," Suns superstar Kevin Durant said about Thomas.

"He's been trying to get back in the league for a while. Good to have him back in the league. He's been playing well in the G League. So when he get his feet up under him, understand what we do, when he gets minutes, I know he'll produce."

"Isaiah is someone we think is a hell of a player, has been a hell of a player throughout his career," Suns coach Frank Vogel said before Sunday's game.

"We know he can still play from what he's been doing in the G League. He's someone that I think the world roots for because he was on the top of the world before the injuries. Throughout his career, he's stayed persistent in trying to get opportunities. We're excited to bring him aboard."

Alando Tucker was beasting in the G league but he couldn't cut in in the big league so I wouldn't expect much from Thomas. This truly is quite a bizarre signing for team in playoff contention.

Tucker is not even in the same realm a player Thomas is. Tucker played 50 odd games in the NBA doing nothing. IT was a 2x all-star and one time All-NBA second team selection. Maybe IT does nothing but these are two completely different calibre of player
