Ultimately the Suns would’ve been better off keeping Monty over hiring Vogel. That’s how bad Vogel truly is.

If Mike Budenholzer isn’t the Suns HC come May, then this team truly is f***ked.

I agree that both Monty and Vogel are trash in different ways.

I don't really want Bud. What are the other options?

After tracking record for Big 3 during the season it'd be interesting to track what part of Big 3 shows up in each game of the playoffs. Gm1 was Big1.5. KD - 1, Beal - 0.5, Book - 0.

Luka is just like Booker can’t carry his sorry azz team. No Kawhi and Dallas is down by nearly 20 points. Nobody wanted Luka here garbage overrated player. He needs more help get him more help next season.

Monty would have just sat on the sidelines with an very constipated lobotimized look on his face doing absolutely nothing and saying nothing to the refs either. It's true that Vogel hasn't been good either so far, But the true blame glaringly lies within the front office! They waited too long until most all other options were already off the board (similar to how Jones operates in free agency) and once only maybe Vogel and Doc rivers were left, they picked Vogel, a defensive coach originally under the pretense of developing Aytons' defense similarly as he did with Roy Hibbert, etc and then shortly after hiring Vogel (a defense oriented coach), They quickly traded Ayton and then proceeded (Jones again) to load up on vet min leveel garbage time offensive players with absolutely NO DEFENSIVE ACUMEN/ABILITY WHATSOEVER as if some kind of miracle was supposed to happen with this bench somehow drastically outplaying their abilities that they've established throughout their entire careers already.

Vogel immediately becam a lame duck coach for this season surrounded by 3 hot/cold injury prone offense oriented superstars with no chemistry whatsoever due to well documented injury history, and lack of games played predictably. The writing was on the wall from the jump with this patchwork and duct tape superteam fascimile. Vogel was a very bad hire IF the plan was to construct a very dominant offense oriented super team. But they sat idle early in the process and then waited until the only viable options left were Rivers and Vogel. Vogel became the choice due to his premised ability to manage suprstar egos, and his championship pdigree. However, that championship roster that he won with the lakers had numerous high level defensive players AND that roster also had size and physicality too! BOTH attributes this team glaringly lacks.......................... again due to very poor planning and inpt roster construction by our clown show front office.

As for managing our superstars, what do people really expect a coach to be able to say/ do to players at the level of Durant, Booker, Beal?? Should he straight bench them to get the point across? because with our severe lack of depth, this just wouldn't happen! we'd also lose evn worse, so.......................what real authority or power would people truly expect the coach to have against these players IF they don't execute or follow gameplans or listen? Maybe a phil jackson, Greg Popovich, Steve Kerr might have the clout to reign in superstars accordingly. Any other coach just becomes a lame duck to superstar whims and behavioral tendencies. Because in the end, the superstar players don't get fired or traded, the coaches do. And if those superstar egos aren't leaders and are finesse/passive but still arrogant and uninvested indifferent beyond themselves at times, then a coach can only do so much to make the players respond. Again, Vogel was a bad hire for this team IF this was the plan all along! OR even worse, there really wasn't much of a plan at all as to how to make this work successfully, and our front office was just making up decisions on roster construction, scheme, etc on the fly as they go along!! :banghead:

** This 2nd possibility actually adds up much more clearly when you consider the mismatched roster construction and the inverse of personnel to actually match the coaches reputation that you hired. Then the desperate scrambling to offload all remaining assets in order to try and shore up recent very poor roster construction decisions (reeks of Jones modus operandi) similar to the Craig Indiana trade reacquisition debacle and others. Yes, neither coach would get it done with this roster. But the blame ultimately and predominantly falls on our front offices' glaring ineptitude and our new owners' careless overeagerness to make splashy moves trying to endear himself too quickly to his newly acquired fanbase.

This board would have exploded had we faced Kawhi less Clippers down by nearly 30 points with an 8 point 2nd quarter. Luka/Kyrie better get blasted on ESPN tonight.

Honestly, Our only available remaining options at this point are:

1- Sergio Scariola (Popovich of Europe- most winningest coach in Fiba history)/ hire defensive coach (assistant) maybe Joerger??
2- Hire Domas Isolo (European offensive genius for Paris team)/ hire dave Joerger (assistant- defense)??

3- Hire Dmitris Itudus or Erdem John?/ Hire D'Antoni- offensive consultant?

4- Hire Budenholzer/ hire assistant (offense oriented) maybe Domas Isolo??
5- Promote Fizdale (in house) / hire assistant from college (defense)??
https://www.si.com/nba/suns/phoenix-suns-candidates-replace-kevin-young
Kimani Young- Uconn.
Kenny Atkinson- GS Warriors.
Mike D'antoni (Pels offensive consultant).

*** Could this could all be part of a diabolical plan toward this summer???
It's been rumored before by some (myself and slim, and others)?? that perhaps the plan has always been to have a stopgap coach for this season with FULL INTENT towards signing Ty Lue this summer as his contract (not extendd) expires, and maybe also Bob Meyers (GS Warriors- former GM)??? I don't know for sure the validity of this rumor, but BOTH names could be available, also Tim Connelly (GM) former Nuggs GM who identified both Jokic and Murray in the draft, and as the current Wolves GM (not yet extended)helped the Wolves to a top record, and defensive dominance (although based on size, length, etc).

Lue and Meyers in the off-season would be magical.

Otherwise Connelly would be a nice get.

This guy **** on the coaches but it's up to the players to actually execute and we are not a good defensive team because we lack the players that actually want to play D except maybe Okogie.

Bud’s the best option. Every single one of his teams all have ball movement and he demands that. Plus they’re all elite defensively too.

He’s a little on the older side but if the plan is to keep this core and give it another run, then our window is very short anyway.

Thanks for posting this, the guy’s 100% on mark.

It’s funny how there were clowns defending Vogel even as recent as February/March.

If any of you watch one single postgame interview of Vogel, you’d be able to see he’s completely full of s*** and also extremely entitled. He won the fluke bubble chip while being carried by AD/LeBron against a Heat team without Bam/Dragic and he thinks he’s hot sh*t cause of that.

Ultimately that’s what happens when there is no offensive system and it’s just a free for all, streetball offense.

Even without Kawhi, they still have George and Harden. Clippers were seen as contender favorites before the season started and still are now. Minnesota is not seen as contender titles and nobody living in Minnesota even would actually put $$ on the Wolves winning a title or even making the finals this year. So Mavs opponent and Suns opponent is a little different.

Return to Phoenix Suns
