This is a huge get for the UFC. Bibiano is one of the best fighters not currently under the Zuffa banner. Now go get Kawajiri and we are golden.

UFC cut a bunch of dudes.

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/6/4/306 ... n-mma-news

Following recent losses in the past few months, the UFC has decided to release several fighters from their roster. Among those confirmed to have been cut by the promotion were Dongi Yang, Kamal Shalorus, Jorge Lopez, and Jeff Curran who all suffered defeats at last month's UFC on Fuel TV event.

Others also confirmed to have been let go are Aaron Rosa (lost 2 out of 3), Efrain Escudero (2 straight losses), and former WEC Champion, Steve Cantwell (5 straight losses).

While not yet announced, a few other fighters has had their profiles at UFC.com removed, which usually signals being cut from the promotion. Here are the following:
- Alex Soto
- Eric Wisely
- Mike Massenzio

They've been needing to trim some fat.

Kind of sucks for Yang though, I thought he won his last fight iirc.

In the kindest of terms, Yang had no business being in there in the first place.

If I'm a kid in China right now, 14-15-16, and I have some serious natural talent, I would hit that gym like no tomorrow. The second Zuffa can find a Chinese national that is a serious fighter and can be led to a title shot, that kid will make a ton of cash.

Zuffa needs an Asian Bisping int he worst way.

Also, the GSP Road To Recovery series blows me away.

Sure, he's got every tool around him to turn him back into the old beast,
but his work ethic, strength, attitude towards training and the fact that he clearly enjoys it is very inspiring.

In the new one he does this hand stand coming off a yoga ball and then holds the stand and dips at the end a few times.....I mean......holy.

How does a guy who never wrestled become one of the best MMA wrestlers of all time?
Work.

Apparently BJ Penn has verbally agreed to fight Rory Macdonald... I know Rory had mentioned this fight a week or so ago, but I just can't understand BJ's motivation to take this fight. I guess he thinks if he wins he'll be close to a title fight, but I think he's not even going to sniff victory. He's coming out of retirement to get absolutely smashed.

WTF is BJ thinking? He passes on Kos like a week ago to fight Rory?

Rory is a much lesser name who is hungry and probably better than Kos at this point. Kos is the type of guy he could beat and add a good name to his resume.

Anyway, BJ at WW, I'll watch, but wish it wasn't so.

He had a better chance to win against Gil.

That's crazy.

He's basically serving up his name to put Rory over.

Maybe I'm getting caught up in the Rory MacDonald hype/underestimating a guy who is still a very tough out for anyone in Koscheck, but if those two were to fight, I'd have MacDonald as a pretty heavy favourite.

Yea, even if you think Kos is better at this point, the risk/reward for Rory vs Kos just doesn't make any sense for BJ to have refused Kos like a week ago and decide to come back now.

If he loses this one, the ufc may not even give him a choice to come back next time. That'd be several beatings in a row, with a random win over half retired Matt Hughes thrown in the mix.

I don't even care at this point.

I just want to see BJ fight one more time.

If it's here in TO, I'll be going.

That's a super tough fight for BJ, harder than Kos imo at this point.

Mike Dolce, please get with BJ and see if for once, we could see "Motivated BJ" at 170.

"We'll see. It's not a fact that I will retire on June 21st. We'll see after the fight."

Fedor retired when he couldn't work out a deal Stateside like Dennis Rodman retired when he went to play pro ball in Sweden. What's he gonna do after Rizzo, go play pro ball in Madagascar?

Ideally that would mean they approached him about fighting either Barnett or Cormier, but I really really doubt it.

A combo of Fedor/Sylvia for those strikeforce heavies may be the best combo that could be hoped for outside of the zuffa banner.

Good idea for a step up in comp. IMO, Monson/Ishii/Rizzo/Severn/Fulton/Zane Frazier murderer's row equals title shot of his choice with co-promotion.

He's only going to fight if God wills it though. God may not want to mess with Dan Severn...if he knows what's good for him.
