Ultimately, if Brock does indeed plan on returning, that card would be the place to put Conor if you want to get him mega hype quickly.

Brock's coming back? I don't think that he'll get the belt back, but he lost to Steroids and the fact that Mark Hunt is getting a title shot shows how pathetic the HW division is.

He's very close with Dana and his contract with WWE expires in April, they talk on the phone all the time. It's tough to tell if he's only leveraging to get a better contract from WWE because his gimmick is being a lone wolf who doesn't give a **** about wrestling. UFC, appearing two or three times a year, seems to be more in-line with what he wants as a part-time wrestling super attraction doesn't really work (Brock is too inflexible, schedule-wise).

I actually think the Brock thing wore off after awhile. I don't think his ppv against Overeem did well despite two buff dudes fighting and despite the NYE thing. I think his tuf season also had pretty bad ratings.

Maybe the fact that he fake beat up undertaker will help him draw more. Kind of doubt it.

UFC 100 - 1,600,000 buys
UFC 116 - 1,160,000 buys
UFC 121 - 1,050,000 buys
UFC 91 - 1,010,000 buys
UFC 87 - 625,000 buys (Lesnar was co-main event)
UFC 81 - 600,000 buys (Lesnar was co-main event)
UFC 141 - 535,000 buys

141 had some things going against it... Brock coming off a thumping, Overeem's first UFC fight.

He's the only guy out there that could move the needle measurably, so I imagine Dana's trying to back a Brinks truck up onto a ranch somewhere in Minnesota even if he's leaning towards pro wrestling.

It only got 535,000 buys. Thought that number would be a close 2nd to Weidman vs Machida for the top PPV this year. From mmapayout:

02/01/2014 UFC 169 Barao vs Faber II 230,000
02/22/2014 UFC 170 Rousey vs McMann 340,000
03/15/2014 UFC 171 Hendricks vs Lawler 300,000
04/26/2014 UFC 172 Jones vs Teixeira 350,000
05/24/2014 UFC 173 Barao vs Dillashaw 215,000
06/14/2014 UFC 174 Johnson vs Bagautinov 115,000
07/05/2014 UFC 175 Weidman vs Machida 545,000
08/02/2014 UFC 176 Aldo vs Mendes II Canceled
08/30/2014 UFC 177 Dillashaw vs Soto 125,000

Just a terrible year from PPV's. Only 3 title fights from the top 5 weight classes so far. With one (a rematch of one that did 300,000) and an interim left on the schedule.

The ppvs have been trending down for a long time now, so I'm not sure comparing Lesnar's numbers from 2011 to today's buys is apples to apples.

The guy is older, got his ass kicked in his last three ufc fights (despite winning one of them) and was bleh on tuf. Sure the ufc will take anyone who draws in this day and age, but I don't think he will have even CLOSE to the impact that he had 5 years ago.

Brock coming back would jump start interest in him again, but he'd need to win to keep that interest. He'd walk in as easily the biggest draw in the company with GSP no longer around.

The problem is that doesn't mean anything considering the ufc doesn't currently have any draws.

Sure, just thinking Dana and co may be getting desperate. Went to visit GSP also.

No I'm with you. My original post on this topic was just me musing that Lesnar may not be as big a draw as we think...in response to sdm positing that to give Conor max hype just pair him with Lesnar.

Aldo vs. Edgar/Swanson winner (for FW title)
Mendes vs. Edgar/Swanson loser
Davis vs. Gustafsson
Teixeira vs. Dan Henderson
Maldonado vs. Jan Blachowicz
Stringer vs. Ryan Jimmo
Elkins vs. Nik Lentz
Martins vs. Dustin Poirier
Dariush vs. Cabral
Diego Ferreira vs. Giagos
Magny vs. Jordan Mein
Macario vs. Patrick Cote
Cabral vs. Dariush
Reis vs. Chris Kelades
Fili vs. Mike Wilkenson
Arantes vs. Jim Hettes
Burns vs. Martin
Giagos vs. Diego Ferreira
Martin vs. Burns

Cut List: Kotani, Jorgensen, Camoes.

I'd like to see Davis get a rematch with Rashad, avenge that loss. Too bad Anthony Johnson won't be back, I kind of wanted to see him fight Gustafsson.

Yeah it's a shame because he looked like a real contender vs Davis.
