UFC 183 (1/31): Nick Diaz vs. Anderson Silva

I'm a little late, but I think this is threadworthy.

Probably one of the top 5-10 stars/draws in MMA.

Seems like the Anderson Silva fight is the most likely possibility, but Diaz might want to fight sooner and in a fight that will push him to a WW title shot.

Does Nate follow suit, or will this piss him off even more?

If he doesn't want to wait for Silva, or wants a fight first, maybe a rematch with Condit?

I'd be down with that. I'm having a hard time recalling Condit's recent record (was the injury loss to Woodley his last fight?), but it strikes me as a fight that could headline a Fox card or co-main a PPV, and propel the winner to a title eliminator fight. The loser really wouldn't be any further away from a title shot than they are now.

Since he says he's ready to fight tomorrow, I'd be surprised if they keep him on the shelf til 2015.

Other guys I'd like to see him fight in the interim:

The winner (or loser, for that matter) of this weekend's Lawler/Brown fight
Rory
Tarec
Kim

Anyone would be good, but I think those fights would have the best mix of style/storyline/relevance to the title picture.

Condit is 6-3 in his last 9 fights, yes Woodley fight was his last fight prior to injury, almost 6 months ago.

I'd like to see him fight Askren. Yes, I know they wouldn't do that if if they had signed Askren.

Pettis was on the mmahour this week and Ariel asked him if he had seen the Diaz bros while filming tuf at all. He said he hasn't seen Nick because Nick is (presumably) training for a fight. Dana said Anderson is out until February. I don't think that is going down.

Gotta give them their due. After a terrible and saturated first half, the ufc is poised for a (relatively) HUGE second half.

Hendricks is returning. Pettis is returning in a huge fight. Aldo/Mendes has some heat now. Despite uninteresting fights, DJ and Dillashaw are fighting again.

They just signed a dream fight in Jones/Cormier yesterday. Ronda is apparently going to fight Carano which people apparently care about. Cain/Werdum is on the horizon. Frankie Edgar is back in the mix.

The ufc is building a star in Conor McGregor and he is fighting again. And now it looks like at least one of the two Diaz bros is back in the fray. Its a weird state of affairs, but Nick Diaz has to be a top 4-6 biggest draw for the ufc right now if I had to guess.

They always come back.

(especially when they publicly admit to being broke and being in arrears)

Amazing. The WW division is as hot as just about any division any era. So many options for match-ups, and Nick - with his style - adds to the dynamics huge.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Diaz may be a strong draw, but he still only has a 9-7 UFC record.

If Anderson is even similar of what he was before the Weidman fights, he will own Daiz and it wont be close.

Well the fight is made. The main event of the Superbowl weekend (I think?) card.

At 185.

Sweet.
DC vs Bones, and Silva vs Diaz are the two match ups I wanted to see, now I'm just praying for no injuries.

I'd say praying for world peace would probably give you better odds

"Nick Diaz is a very popular fighter as it is," White said. "If he comes back and beats Anderson Silva, he could fight for the title. He's right there."

At 185? He'd be a speed bump to Weidman. Would be jumping the line in either class, IMO. But I forgot, he's popular.
