Man they just hate Mir, after this fight he will have fought:

Bigfoot, Overeem, Barnett, Cormier, Dos Santos, Nogx2, Roy Nelson, Cro Cop, Carwin, Kongo, Brockx2, Sylvia, Vera

I'm not a fan of Mir, but that's a murderer's row if I've ever seen one.

This will be five losses in a row though. It's enough with the Mir already.

I count that he came out of that group at .500.

But yea he was like my favorite fighter at one point, but I agree that I wish he would have retired awhile back. Ironically I think this is the one chance he has to win a fight in a long time but I think I recall him saying that he isn't going to be at Jackson's for this which makes me question it now. His cardio was finally improving there.

Updated card (didn't really check to see if there are any changes):

MAIN CARD
FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET

Frank Mir vs. Antonio Silva
Edson Barboza vs. Michael Johnson
Sam Alvey vs. Cezar Ferreira
Rustam Khabilov vs. Adriano Martins
Iuri Alcantara vs. Frankie Saenz
Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Sean Strickland

PRELIMINARY CARD
FOX Sports 1, 6 p.m. ET

Jessica Andrade vs. Marion Reneau
Matt Dwyer vs. William Macario
Mike De La Torre vs. Tiago Trator
Wendell Oliveira vs. T.J. Waldburger

PRELIMINARY CARD
UFC Fight Pass, 5 p.m. ET

Cody Gibson vs. Douglas Silva
Ivan Jorge vs. Josh Shockley

That Barboza vs. Johnson matchup is nice, and important. Winner is in the top 10, looking for a fight with a contender IMO. Don't see the two other fights more interesting than Mir vs. Bigfoot, though that's not a difficult standard to meet.

Alvey is the best 185 HW I've seen.

It's hilarious how Alvey looks so ineffectual for an extended period to begin a fight, then pulls out some crazy counter move to turn the tables. The last two fights it's gotten him sudden finishes. Against Kong he was knocking him silly for most of the third round, but couldn't get him out, and just started too late. That's a win I think if it wasn't his octagon debut and he could have shaken off the nerves earlier. He doesn't have good athleticism or technique really (although he has some good punch combos like that one was), but he has a lot of heart and killer instinct. I don't think I've ever seen him out of a fight in his career, and the guy has definitely been around between UFC, Bellator, and MFC. That's why he's kind of an interesting add to their MW roster. I think he sticks a while because of that and he can win people over with his upbeat personality.

Michael Johnson was all over Barboza in a relative beatdown. I hope this is the last we have to hear about how Barboza is new and improved, but I doubt it. He should be 7-4-1 in 12 UFC fights and against average competition. He gets hit a ton, stunned, ko'ed, subbed, etc. He doesn't put away good opposition either. He has questionable striking d, chin, counter striking, boxing in the pocket, a predictable rhythm, and overrated kicking power. As I've said b4, Barboza is Portugese for Guillard. Basically same strengths/weaknesses, and career.

I actually could see Johnson getting the next title shot. It's not that he deserves it, but he has a solid streak, and the timing may play in his favor. Khabib/Cerrone is 10 weeks after next title fight. That's not going to cut the mustard unless they yank Khabib. Really, they should make Johnson/Cerrone, and yank Khabib for June/July.

Winner: Frank Mir (lactating less)

Aside from the brain damage artificially accumulated, the worst thing about roids in MMA is it skews perceptions so much. Not only because guys can rack up so many victories themselves on the stuff, but they can rack up phony victories against guys who aren't the same now off it. You're telling me that's the same guy who had a war with Hunt, took and landed so many bombs? Beat down Fedor? Took out Reem (when he was juicing himself)? Now Arlovski and Mir are contenders again, in their mid 30s', when they were left for dead? Who knows what it all means.

Mir is the guy who set me on th path to liking mma and martial arts in general again. The same path that started my own training which has changed my life. So im so happy he won. That said, Bigfoot is probably the one and only guy in the sport who needs TRT, having it ruined by cheaters like Mir himself and Sonnen and Hendo.

How come you didn't say the same to me? You don't wish me well? :)

I bet the last 5. You know I was on Smilin, and against Brazilian Guillard and lactating Big Foot. Also, what did Alcantara do to deserve such a favorable line. Arguably lost to Reis who is a lot smaller than him. Intimidating guy on the feet, but kind of wild, can be taken down, and stays on back for long periods.

I missed out on value bets tonight. I'm on vacation so not too convenient for me anyway because I like to bet after weigh ins. I may have tossed a few bucks on Mir otherwise but probably wouldn't have touched anything else tbh. Bigfoot should retire, nemesis could KO him with ease at this point. :)

Edit actually idk if I would have even bet on Mir. I try not to bet on guys I like too often. The lone exception to date being Pettis over Bendo.

Bigfoot looked awful, he looked flabby, flushed and frail. I forgot the trt angle. Wish I had remembered, I woulda took a flyer on Mir.

Big Foot might as well retire.
