His reasoning about wanting to protect fighters from fighting outside of their weight class or whatever makes sense... but it's not the type of thing you hear from someone representing a legit, badass, fearless athlete. I think the list of elite, championship-level fighters having spent some portion of their career in a "wrong" weight class (especially sub-155) is longer than the list of those who stayed put and just happened to align perfectly with a particular weight class, give or take 10-15 pounds for the cut. BJ Penn boos this man.

I actually have no issue with Ronda and her camp not wanting to fight Cyborg. It just irritates me when they talk about how much they want that fight - they clearly don't. Also irritating is how Ronda is more than happy to move up to fight Gina, so clearly weight class isn't the only issue.

What's w the order of the fights? the weigh ins had some no names after maia-magney feijao, struve, big nog...etc

this card is clearly intended for brasilians. Portuguese announcer at the weigh ins, Globo signage everywhere not ppv ads. I'd guess rondas contract simply demands ppv.

Big Nog vs. Struve, one of the worst ones from a "I have no ethical problems watching this" perspective.

I think those no-name fights are the finals from the most recent TUF Brazil season.

Pretty sad to have Rowdy Roddy Piper die the day before this card. Not into wrestling now but just listened to his episode (link here: http://www.mmafighting.com/videos/2013/9/17/4740266/the-mma-hour-episode-199-roddy-piper) with Ariel on the MMA Hour and he gets being exploited by promoters better than anybody.

I am not a misogynist. There are some odd sex characteristics on a couple of the women fighting in this event. Not from anything they've put into their bodies (but also that) ....more fundamental...you see it in the facial structures. The world is filled with int*rs*xed people, where else would someone competing in a female division profit more from int*rs*x structures than in MMA?

I'm not talking about the main event ladies.

Loser should retire, as well as loser of Shogun/Lil Nog.

This is entertaining and shows the charisma and athleticism of Ronda Rousey.

Maia 10-8ing Magny, bout to finish an armbar. Magny saved by the bell. Maia takedown, pass, mount within 10 seconds of rd 2. Now backtake and rnc immediately.

Guys, Maia is elite. This is not an indictment on Magny. Maia is now 6-2 at WW with wins over Kim, Fitch, Story, LaFlare and Magny...his only losses? Decision losses to Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald. LOL.

Anyway, Maia is a pleasure to watch, got home just in time for that one. Probably going to tune in to wsof and then jump back in to ufc to watch Ronda/Bethe. edit: nvm will watch Gadelha/Aguilar as well.

I'm not exaggerating when I say I don't think Maia got punched. Great performance. I hope Maia gets a fight to get him back in contention. His last few fights they have had him gatekeeping vs up and comers Magny and LaFlare. If they want to stick with that trend, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to sub Wonderboy but I doubt they'd want that. Everyone on twitter is calling for Gunnar/Maia.

Man, some of those takedowns were vicious. Flipped the guy as if he was a rag doll.

After this fight I don't regret not being able to see Aguilar/Joanna so much. Aguilar's shots are slow and plodding with bad posture, Joanna would stuff with ease and clearly outstrike her. Plus Aguilar is your stereotypical Mexican fighter, tough as nails, Joanna would punish her for several rounds. Gadelha though, she is vicious. IDK if its possible that she is natural lol. Claudia also has explosive takedowns.

My stream crapped out during the Maia/Magny fight, which was one of the more interesting ones on the card. Glad to see Maia got the win in impressive fashion. I still have a hunch that we will see Kim vs. Maia II as the main event on the Seoul card.

Cummins beating Feijao was a nice matchup as well. Cummins passed that test, maybe now he gets a guy with a big name who isn't actually good anymore.

Gadelha looked good. Very interested in that rematch. In that division in general actually. It's somehow one of the most interesting to me, lol.

Oh man, so pumped. I thought Ronda was next but apparently Shogun/Nog is. I thought Ronda would be on at the same time as Shields/Palhares and was pissed. Nice.
