UFC 295 - Poatan/Jiri - Pavlovic/Aspinall @ MSG

Post#1 » by Clav » Sat Nov 11, 2023 9:33 pm

Bright Lights, Big City. Whose face will leave not so pretty ?

I got Jiri and Pavlovic by TKOs. Looking forward to Saint Denis/Frevola, Loopy/Ricci, Borschev, and Rebecki fights along with the co and main events. Cheers everyone enjoy the card.

Who ya got ?

Will Alex technical kickboxing and striking thwart Jiri's unorthodox striking? Will Aspinall be able to touch up Pavlovic using speed or is this fight destined to be a 1R finish if they come out throwing hard ?

Thoughts on the HW division with Jones injured and now kind of Miocic in limbo ?
Cheers

I think both fights have more potential to have guys cautious and playing pitty pat for a bit and the fights going a little deeper than expected.

I’m a huge Aspinall fan and Pav is super exciting with so much potential too. One of the things I don’t like about guys ending their career on top or leaving with big wins and the title is that it feels like the next generation never get their proper coronation and dues that way. Jones, Khabib, and GSP(in two divisions kinda lol), and Francis to an extent all left their divisions kinda feeling that way, right or wrong.

Without a Jones, Francis, or even Stipe to an extent to conquer, it won’t afford them the credit they deserve for taking out another monster.

Pav's lack of head movement and defense is insane. Head stiff as can be, never sees punches or rolls them off. Steps into the pocket completely oblivious.

He's getting KOd. Seriously watch that fight with Blaydes. No set ups, gets his turned 4 or 5 times. Aspinall way too smart to let Oav get away w that .

After hearing about Andrade's circumstances, its gonna be hard to watch Dern tune her up w that jab.

Could be a very short PPV.

Aspinall's hands are very quick for a heavyweight. Dangerous man.

Aspinall’s speed and movement is so sweet for a HW. Sick sick sick prospect.

I dunno, early stoppage on Jiri? I hate it when that's a question.

Alex’s left hook is so insane. So much power from such short wind up.

His low kicks also goat tier

Poatan doesn’t have all the padding with prospects and “build up” fights other guys have, but his resume’ is kinda nice for such a small time. Two titles, wins over Adesanya, Strickland, Jan, Jiri all champs or former champs. Finished 3 of the 4, his only loss is to a dominant, super decorated champ, and they are 1-1.

He won’t have the win total of some guys, but if he gets a few more top tier wins, he’s going to have a strong “degree of difficulty” resume.

Sturdiest legs in the game, both kicking and defending wise. You basically concede that you can’t win the battle of the lower half and you have to knock him the hell out. Good luck getting to the off switch before he does, especially after he butchers your legs.

Jiris legs were on trouble pretty much straight away. No telegraph at all and so much power generated.

Jiris wrestling is pretty crap. Had no concern when he took Alex down.

You ignore me nailing Pav vs Aspinall exactly, though. Hmm...

The commentators couldn't understand Dern's regression. She fired Perillo or something?

meanwhile i was wrong on both picks in OP ;) shows what I know haha

Good night of fights, Alex kicks must feel like a sledgehammer hitting, everyone sees the power he generates when opponents stumble.

Also BSD headkick KO on Frevola who was retreating was a thing of beauty.
Cheers

Yeah she started her own **** or something. Wanted a smaller gym so she could cry at the gym and not worry (actual reasoning)

Her striking was never good, but look like it took 3 steps backwards in this fight.
