*Official Ultimate Finale Thread*

Post#1 » by stick » Tue Jun 17, 2008 12:10 pm

Wow, never saw this forum, how lame am I.
Posted in the thread in OffTopic Canada, and now thats gone.

This is definitely the best looking finale to date.
Along with the fighters from the show, we got:

Evan Tanner v Kendall Grove.
I'm a big fan of both, I think Tanner should be able to gut this one out.

Diego Sanchez v Luigi Fioravanti
I hate Diego and I'm from FLA, so I got to root for Luigi.

Spencer Fisher v Jeremy Stephens
Should be the fight of the night, barn-burner you might say.

Josh Burkman v Dustin Hazelett
I'm a fan of Burkman here, I hope his conditioning is good.

Marvin Eastman v Drew McFedries
I can't tell if this will be boring or exciting.

Jeremy Horn v Dean Lister
Eh, a typical fight from the unimaginative matchmakers at the UFC. Both great fighters, but hell, even a guy who has seen one MMA event knows that styles make fights.

Rob Yundt v Rob Kimmons
Probably one we won't see.

And what about last weekend; damn.
Adrenaline sucked, a nice headkick knockout, thats about it.
EliteXC was really good. A show that went back to what I really like that promotion for; not the garbage we saw on CBS.
And, DREAM4. Once again showing that that group of people still has what the juggernaut UFC doesn't have. An eye for making an event, event-ful. A knack for matching fights. The smarts to know that every fan wants to see a card-to-card tourney. And a really good TV production team.
Did Aoki seriously pull out the gogoplata?
Great to see Alistair Overeem finally living up to his potential.

What's funny is I was watching, just randomly a couple days ago, Total Elimination 2005 from my DVD collection. Pretty funny seeing a lot of the same exact guys. Overeem. Yoon Dong-Sik. Sakuraba. And on the 05 tourney, they were saying how it is probably the end of Sakuraba's career. Well after Saturday night, it should be now.

I actually want to see the Lister vs Horn fight.

BTW, show is tomorrow.

Any guesses on what the big surprise is?

Im guessing that its Jessie and that he smashes out the window in the limo and then attacks someone.

I'm also pscyhed for Lister-Horn. Horn is a bad-ass + their actual sub skills are quite different (Lister with more of a sambo background (leg-locks and so on)).

Fisher's awesome. Love him.

Not too keen on Grove vs Tanner (both coming off loses, IIRC - AND headlining???)
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

What they didnt show last night on the show, was Jesse before the incident doing lines of coke or speed or sumthin. I heard he was all doped up and drunk that night.

That wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Man, what a dope.
He pissed away a 6 figure contract.
He'll still get his shot, and it will be a nice mid card attraction to see him vs Amir later on to see who would have won, but he'll be fighting for 8,000 bucks instead

Well, there may have been more that the show didn't actually show.

But all I read was how it wasn't overhyped and it is a big deal.

Fro watching the show it was overhyped, what they showed at least, I mean they showed everything in the preview the week prior, basically.

When he was in the Casino acting a fool, I was told he threw a barstool at a window.

I can't believe how far Amir has come. He reminds me of Griffin in his TUF days (looks like him too).

I was so glad to see Amir win, I hate CB.

Amir is by far the most entertaining in and out of the cage. I wish we could have seen him fight someoen else in the finale, though this time I think someone actually gets in CB's ear and CB pulls out a decision.

The fact that Amir had the hardest road and still came out on top says something.
He fought literally the toughest people in the house and won, i really wanted to see him vs Jesse, that was the last obstacle.

Diego looked so much better last night.
He's still not a top tier guy, but his fists have evolved by 100%. I really enjoyed that fight.
The Grove fight was great to.

Oh and Amir winning last night was great! What a shocker...to catch him in an armbar for a second time...damn.
