The greatest heel in the history of professional wrestling. Gold on the mic. One of my favorites. RIP Hot Rod Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Having watched Rowdy Roddy since his days on Portland Wrestling it was with great sadness I heard of his passing. I recall one time he showed up at the Crows Nest(the interview area) dressed as Santa and started tossing money out to the crowd below or another time Playboy Buddy Rose was claiming women were pounding on his door. Piper's response? LET THEM OUT

Apparently was a nice guy, too.

Lots of wrestlers died young because of cardiac arrest. I think he admitted to juicing during the 80s, like many of the wrestlers at the time were doing.

His small but relevant film resume was great too. They Live! is a cult classic, and Hell Comes to Frogtown is very overlooked.

Wow, Piper and Dusty were arguably the 2 best ever with the mic - and they might have been the last of the era's greats with their heads still really screwed on right. Piper seemed like such a great person and an incredible pro.

Before he ever came to the WWE, Piper was a regional star in the Pacific Northwest - and it was obvious he was going to be a national superstar - with his overwhelming personality, energy, and the fact that he was a damn good pro rassler. There was a young small wrestler he took under his wing named Art Barr (who died young after winning tag team championships with Eddie Guerrero and had the same issues that Eddie had). Here's an old video of Piper basically changing Barr's career. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDMeyVYznA8

Wrestlers just keep dropping like flies. I remember back in 2003 I thought they were gonna be going somewhere with the piper/sean O'haire protégé angle. Thought WWE dropped the ball on that one. Crazy how both of those guys are dead now

True facts about Sean O'Haire. His real name was Sean Haire, and he became a hair stylist - and owned a barber shop on Hilton Head, SC. He went into MMA after retiring from pro rasslin. He had a match with Butterbean that lasted 29 seconds.

Also, was beaten very, very badly in a parking lot brawl and almost died.

This one was really hard to take...

Just came out of nowhere and he seemed to be living a very active and productive life. Still doesn't seem real to me.

First Dusty then the Hogan crap now this... It's really affected my interest in wrestling I literally have zero interest
in SummerSlam and the current product.
