Great quote from Oregonian's game coverage of GSW win

"Rip City, baby!" [James] Jones said. "I mean, you say Rip City in this city now, and people smile and go crazy. I think opposing teams are starting to see that. They are not cheering for superstars anymore, they are cheering for the Blazers. Last year when I was here for Phoenix, the fans here would cheer for Steve Nash, clap for Amare Stoudemire, and no one was really clapping for the Blazers. It was kind of shocking. But this year, it's totally different. . . . It's great, that's when you say you have 20,000 people behind you."

he meant no one was claping to the suns, right?

and it's great, of course that fans tend to react more when the team is looking so good.

I think he meant last year when he was with Phoenix, they would come to Portland, they would be cheering Nash and Amare rather than the blazers.

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
