Man their gaurds have hit everything tonight. Bledsoe isn't that good of a shooter of the dribble.

CJ and Dame just looked sad compared to Bledsoe and Knight the last 2 nights. Off nights or reality check?

glad we don't have to play these guys after this month. Tough pressure D is gonna be our weakness this year.

Plumleee and Harkless and Davis shot really bad from FT land. gonna be a long year from the line. Shot 57% for the game.

Off night, Dame is better than either guy by a mile. But CJ needs to establish himself before he is considered better than or equal to either.

Although I anticipate a Knight-like year for McCollum.

I'm a Suns fan and it feels weird seeing other teams fans say that Suns have "tough pressure D" after years of major suckage on that end for us lol.

Good game. McCollum is gonna be a beast.

Young players and young teams rarely get the calls in the NBA. If a young player did what Chandler did, he would have fouled out in the first quarter (and thrown out earlier on the ridiculous double technical).

Scrappiness only gets you so far...

For the most part tonight the Blazers looked like a bunch of players who hadn't played together for very long...in contrast to the Suns who looked confident and knew what to expect from each other on both sides of the ball.

Volume scorers at either Guard position are going to destroy the Blazers this year. Last year the team had Batum and Wes plus Centers who knew the Defensive schemes well and could execute them...and that still didn't do much good. This year is gonna be rough in that regard.

Also, players a la Ryan Anderson are going to bury the Blazers this year as well. Meyers is not a PF and he'll probably never be able to defend on the perimeter.

I really wish that Stotts would give up the reins on the Defensive side of things. He does pretty well with an offense (even if I don't agree with his 100% green light on 3s) but the Blazers need a Defensive Coordinator in the worst way...

It's pretty obvious to me that for some reason Stotts doesn't really value the PnR other than the standard high PnR we've been seeing since he's been here. It's really a shame, because that could be a weapon with this personnel. As a matter of fact, one could argue that is the only way ANY of the young Blazer bigs are scoring threats other than Meyers wide open at the 3pt line.

Also, can we start a "Free Ed Davis" thread yet?

2 games now we're the refs called a very poor game. Some just ridiculous calls or no calls. Frustrating...

I was at the game and it just seemed one of those nights with major hassles getting to the
game due to the max line unable to get to the MC and needing shuttle buses. Getting there
and seeing 57% FT shooting and crappy play just added to it.

Interesting sign that said ghosts of Halloween past with LA, Wes, Nicolas and Rolo. Going to
be a long season for most teams are going to place a lot of pressure on Dame and CJ for they
know they won't get hurt much if the other guys on the team get some open looks.

I really liked how the team played with Aminu at the four and Moe at the three.

Yeah same. Whenever the opposition plays a stretch 4, Aminu is clearly our best defender in that situation. He also provides a bit of floor spacing himself.

Meyers just gets eaten alive by stretch 4's. Meyers Played 31 minutes tonight and Vonleh only played under 7 minutes. Given how bad Meyers was playing (and Vonleh seemed to be playing decently in his little time), that just doesn't add up at all.

edit: If you verse a team like the Suns, playing Meyers at stretch 4 only brings Markief/John Leuer out to the perimeter. The whole point should be to bring Tyson Chandler or Alex Len out to the perimeter...... so play Meyers at centre Stotts...... it isn't rocket science!!!

At the end of the day, the Suns are absolutely our bogey team. So maybe we won't be quite as bad as these last 2 games in general (maybe we will though).

The refs were hopeless. They did give Portland a couple of make-up calls in the 4th quarter though (not blowing the whistle on a couple of likely Portland fouls), but they were blatantly against us the rest of the game. Some horrible decisions, although the Suns were the better team tonight though.

Lillard should be from throwing long outlet passes, they seemingly always result in opposition turnovers. Furthermore a lot of Lillard's turnovers come from lazy passes. If you pass it, you have to commit, and not just loft it to a team mate. Having said that, he was our best player on the floor tonight, and had himself a pretty good game.

I hope at some point in the near future Stotts gives it a try with a starting front court of Harkless, Aminu, and Davis, just to see how it goes.

I think Leonard odd man on this team right now. Our offence is not good, and his pairment with Plumlee makes our defence SUCKS.
Team tries to boost his value before the trade i believe, either way Stotts must keep this soft porn queen on bench as much as it possible.
